Elin is a wonderful host. She took us to a nearby grocery store after we checked in and showed us where to catch the bus to downtown Reykjavik. The apartment is clean and welll furnished, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our eight days in Iceland were much more pleasant because we had a good base to come home to each evening.
acogedor y moderno apartamento
clean and very nicely appointed, with stocked kitchen and comfortable bedding.
It is in a great location for exploring Rejkyavik, and is a good place to return to after a day of touring. Elin was very kind to leave us with milk and breakfast cereals for our son! She also had contact information for each day of our stay if we had any problems, though we didn't end up needing any help. The whole trip was fabulous, and we highly recommend this HomeAway to anyone.
Great spot with plenty of space
Myself, my daughter (27) and two of our former foreign exchange students (in their 20s) shared this apartment while we were in Reykjavik for a week. There were 4 twin beds, two in each room that had super comfortable mattresses. the comforters were amazing too. Elin had some of her stuff in the rooms but there was still plenty of storage space. The shower/bathroom was nearly a wetroom but there was an elevated area and a shower curtain to keep the water in the shower and not the rest of the floor. Plenty of hot water and, in spite of what I've read in many Iceland reviews, you could easily regulate how hot or cold the water was. The kitchen had a small but adequate sized washing machine and there was a drying rack for clothes. There were plenty of pots, pans, etc in the kitchen and we made our own breakfast and lunch every day and just bought dinner. there was a grocery store just down the street that we got our supplies at. We learned from the store clerk after a couple days that we should just stop buying bottled water as it was just tap water. He told us you can get rid of the sulfur taste by running the tap for 2 minutes and he was correct! There is a good sized living room and dining room and the TV is easy to use. I only have a couple suggestions for Elin. It would be helpful to have a book with suggestions in it such as directions to get to the nearest bus stop, which bus number to use to get downtown, how to get to the closest swimming pool. We did figure this all out but it would be nice to have in a Notebook that she can leave in the house for all future renters to look through. Travel brochures are easily picked up at City Hall. The other suggestions would be to have blackout blinds or curtains since in the summer, the sun really never goes down. This was WAY BETTER than staying in a hotel. It was not in the center of town so there wasn't a ton of traffic or loud noise to keep you awake and it was very easy to get downtown. The swimming pool is walking distance = just a few blocks. The Hotel Lotus is just adjacent to the apartments and the Flybus and some of the tour buses will pick you up there. The ones that want a larger hotel for pick up will use the Hilton Nordica that is just a couple blocks down the street and also easy to get to. We ordered pizza to be delivered a couple nights and that worked well too. I really appreciated Elin's hospitality. Thanks for such a great spot.
