This house had so much charm and coziness to it.
My group and 1 came in on a Friday morning and the host allowed us to unpack and check in earlier so we can get to the slopes even faster! We were a group of 10 and everyone slept on a bed perfectly comfortable. The old school stove in the kitchen was just such a great part of the décor and the owner/caretaker are so quick to respond. Definitely a great recommendation.
We found this home to be very inviting and nicely situated on a remote Vermont country road. We visited over the Labor Day weekend and enjoyed the amenities of the property. We found the house, the pool, the hot tub and the grounds to be well maintained. The kitchen was amazing in that it was big and open and had a long convenient table for storing supplies for our visit. We had family in the area and we celebrated our daughter's first birthday on the property. We couldn't have asked for a better spot for our celebration...the weather was perfect, there were no bugs, we set up yard games in the side yard and swam in the pool as much as we could. I can't say enough about this rental, it was a large house but had a quaint cozy feel to it. We were also very impressed with the furnishings they were very modern and all the beds were comfortable. It's great to see this old farmhouse not sitting dormant but instead hosting a multitude of families throughout the year. I know we made some great memories at this place and we hope to come back another year.
Beautiful home and very well maintained. We very much enjoyed our stay here and it wasn't too far out of town but very quiet and peaceful. The owner was nice enough to let us check in early and stay late! We did have a hard time requesting to stay and eventually got in touch with the owner. We discussed that this would be lodging for our wedding party and that is why we booked a house with a large amount of rooms. After our stay I was contacted that I only had written down 2 people would be in our party (completely my fault as I didn't update that once talking to the owner) and that the beds used and the number of cars parked outside did not indicate only 2 people were in the house. He asked that I be honest next time. Since we did explain our situation to him from the beginning this ticked me off. Other than that it was a great place to stay. Just make sure everything in the request is 100% correct since people will be watching.
The house is the perfect New England farm house. Beautiful views of the fields and mountains with the sound of cows mooing in the fields. TONS Of privacy. Felt like our own retreat.
It was clean and cutely decorated. We enjoyed the home and the pool, while the dogs enjoyed the back yard. There is a gap to the left of the pool house that a dog may sneak through. Not a big deal as we used a boogie board to block access during our stay.
We hope to come back next year
It's hard to capture in words the experience of staying at this wonderful farmhouse. Our first night, after getting settled in, our boys (17, 14, and 12) tried out the pool and then we all gathered in the hot tub after dinner; talked (really - three teenage boys!), laughed and watched as the fireflies came out, stars filled the enormous sky, we picked out the satellites, and crickets serenaded us. Mornings I was up early with our dogs; while they played in the fenced in yard, I enjoyed a peaceful cup of coffee, early dawn giving way to pink streaks of sunrise and mist lifting off the pool and the mountains in the distance.
We went to the Fair Haven commons on Thursday to listen to a free concert. Rutland farmers market on Saturday with an abundance of fresh vegetables, fruit, honey, crafts, a variety of food and so much more. Days were spent reading and relaxing by the pool, swimming, playing board games, baking cookies and we even set up our ladder ball set in the back yard and had ladder ball competitions. My 14 year old caught (and released) baby toads. Cows and a distant train whistle added to the sounds of country that surrounded us. We saw deer and hummingbirds and on two nights we had horse and buggies from the Amish community in Whitehall, pass in front of the house.
We drove over to Poultney to do a little shopping at the original Vermont store and had ice creams at Stewarts, amazing cold brew coffee at Mad Hatters and some fresh cheese and peanut butter we scooped ourselves from the co-op store. The boys were in the pool EVERY night - they preferred when the "water was warmer than the air". We ended our outside time every night in the hot tub...and found ourselves always asking - "does anyone have any idea what time it is?"
The house itself is warm and welcoming with plenty of room for all of us. We all slowed down this past week and it was wonderful. There is something so nurturing being in a home surrounded by trees and mountains and open space as far as the eye can see.
Bryan was wonderful to work with, the property was clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a place to relax, recharge and have fun.
We decided to vacation at this property so we could relax, unwind, and unplug from our typical urban-suburban life. We were not disappointed. It was so nice to enjoy the peace, quiet, and green views. It was pretty perfect to have a modern kitchen and wifi, while still hearing a cow moo from time to time.
This property was very quiet, private, and peaceful. The views from the deck are gorgeous (especially at sunset). There were no neighbors nearby to hear my dog howl, except for the occasional cyclist or Amish horse and buggy. We didn't even use the upstairs bedrooms since it was just two of us plus our two dogs, but the house has plenty of room for larger groups.
The fully-fenced yard was great to have for our dogs. There was only one spot by the shed with a small gap where a naughty dog might try to escape, but otherwise the fence is secure and high enough to keep them in. Pets are not permitted in the pool, so we brought a kiddie pool with us for the dogs to cool off in, which we left in the shed in case any future renters want to use it. Us humans used the pool everyday and it was so nice to have! (Plus, they have beach towels at the house for guests to use.) It was pretty hot during our stay, but the window AC units and ceiling fans kept it really cool inside.
We mostly stayed on the property during our trip, but Rutland is about 20 minutes away and Manchester is not far either, for things to do in town. We passed loads of farm stands in the area, so there is a lot of locally-grown food available, which was really cool. The house itself was comfortable, tastefully decorated, with a nice kitchen and cozy living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with pretty much everything you could ever need, which was awesome since I cooked at home a lot. My only recommendation (seriously, my only one, everything else was amazing) would be to update the TV in the living room. We knew we would want to watch some TV in the evenings before bed, so I brought my own Roku player, but was surprised to find that the TV had no HDMI port since it's an older model.
All in all, this property was wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay, so much so that we would love to stay here again. Can't forget to mention that the owner was responsive and very helpful!
