We stayed in Artists Cottage after a week in bay View and it was also a delight. The best feature is the boat watching tower where we could enjoy long sunsets and sunbathe watching Funchal harbour. We also had another private covered terrace just outside the flat with a hammock so were spoilt for choice of places to enjoy the hot weather. The flat has everything we needed including a barbecue, good internet, and it was nice and clean. All the communication was easy and fast with Cristina and the airport transfers worked a treat. Thanks and we will return again soon.
My sister and I loved our holiday in the Artist's Cottage. Extremely spacious rooms, amazing views (the watchtower gave an incredible vista of Funchal Old Town and the harbour lit up at night) and all the necessary creature comforts are there for guests to enjoy. The swimming pool is just a few feet from the door and a wonderful hammock for lazing with a glass of wine. Great restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. We loved every moment of it!
We were delighted with our stay at Artists Cottage. It's in a very nice quiet residential area close to the picturesque old town. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything we needed. Comfortably furnished with a home from home ambience. Lots of information about what to see and do in Funchal plus some really good suggestions for dining. Fabulous views over Funchal and sea. Excellent wi fi service and English TV. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, bread and butter. Easy access to the town both walking and bus service. Pool was kept clean and weekly change of bedding and towels. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay in this lovely property.
Artists Cottage was perfect for us: spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The location was great too, not a tourist hotel in site. We particularly enjoyed the walk into central Funchal along Rua Santa Maria, passed all the painted doors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay especially the Fado and the levada walk. All this and lovely weather, what more could you want. I have been recommending Madeira to all my friends.
This ground floor apartment is very spacious and has everything you need for a great stay. It has lots of character with a beautiful tiled floor and a lovely wide sitting area at the front with 4 basket chairs, a swing chair and hammock. The pool area is also lovely and with only 2 other lets we often had it to ourselves. If there are other people around and you want more privacy and views of the sea and harbour, Artist's Cottage has a separate balcony opposite. It was a very steep climb back up from the town but we were still very glad we stayed on this side near the old town rather than the much more commercial, big Hotel area at the other side. We had a lovely peaceful and relaxing stay in this quiet area, close enough to walk into town, despite the hill!
We booked a last minute flight and stayed in Artists Cottage which proved to be a great choice both in choosing the destination Madeira which we did not know and now love, but also in the very cosy and charming Artists. The house is pretty inside and comfortable, it was well cleaned and maintained, had an efficient airport pick up that showed us around the house and area. The tower terrace that is part of Artists has stunning views, really great and we chose to take our breakfast there every day. The swimming pool is large, a bit cool which was perfect as the weather was very warm. Loved the location which meant we were in a pretty area of traditional houses, some very old, crumbling and romantic, but in Funchal so close to the sea and happening old town. We felt well looked after and at home here - the property lives up to the photos and I´m sure we will be back.
