We had a wonderful relaxing stay. Close enough to Rylestone and Kandos to catch Cementa 19 and see friends and far enough to enjoy the peace of the country. Everything was perfect including the breakky provisions and wonderful marmalade
Thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the region. Cementa is a wonderful art initiative that's being embraced by the community of Rylstone and Kandos. Please feel free to come and visit us again soon.
Great spot for a family getaway
We had a lovely long weekend at Camphill Cottage. It’s a great spot to explore the area and the cottage has everything you need. The kids loved patting the horses and exploring in the yard. Thanks Janet for all your tips!
Willow springs wedding
This home was well suited regarding distance.
The home itself was clean and facilities were great( another toilet would have been easier with a large family)
The horses were of interest to the boys as were the grounds to run around in.
Janet was very accessible and wanted to assist with any questions.
One of my sons left his wallet on a stool outside and it’s surprising to find it was still there, goes to show how nice to be living in the country side
Wow! What a beautiful place!
We loved every minute of our stay at Camphill Cottage! This place is so well set up - from the comfy beds to the great towels and the fresh bread and eggs ready on arrival. Janet is such a lovely and generous host and was available and helpful for any queries we had. Our kids loved feeding her horses and we loved having dinner outside with the cute fairy lights sparkling. Thank you Janet for making us feel so welcome, we will most definitely be back. Melanie
Nice, relaxing and comfortable
Janet was very helpful and friendly. Met us at the house on arrival and gave us a run down on the property and the surrounding attractions. The house was clean and comfortable and it was great to be able to take our dog with us. The kids loved the loft space! We were a little disappointed with the lack of interaction with the horses, as we were expecting a "working" farm. Some of the other reviews were misleading. Feeding the horses meant buying our own food from town to feed them over the fence. Lovely gentle horses, but the kids were disappointed as they too were expecting more of a farm stay (which we have experienced many times at other similar properties). The wood fire was great and kept us warm. The air con and wifi were not working at the time, and we have problems with getting the oven (Janet did mention other guests had the same problem, but it took an hour to get it to light) going so visited the Shed bistro next to the globe hotel in Rylstone for dinner a few times. Great food! Also the local bakery and butcher in Rylstone were amazing.
Thank you for taking the time to write the review Luke. I'd like to address the disappointments you experienced because I like to think that the reviews guests have left reflect their genuine experience. Re the aircon. It was a case of the remote flat battery. A large pack of fresh batteries is kept in the sideboard with tea candles, serviettes, torches etc. I'll mention that to future guests on arrival. Yes wifi connection is a real nuisance in rural areas, which I am told it is in city areas as well, especially during school holidays, evenings/peak times. As for the stove oven, I have had three lots of guests since your departure and all have been able to light it first try (as I mentioned on your arrival) by pushing the knob in which activates the automatic ignition switch. I have checked it and it lights every time. But I may need to demonstrate it. Re the horse feed. They are fed hay of an evening on a feed out run. If guests like to join in, then I am only too happy. It's not what everyone wants. If you made that clear I could have obliged and happily so. If guests like to feed treats like apples and carrots, I leave that up to them. Again it's an individual thing. Some prefer to go sightseeing and feed up is over by the time they return. Hope this clarifies things.
We had a lovely stay with our kids and dogs. Janet was terrific. Highly recommend!
Thank you for taking the time to write this review Merren. I am so glad you had a lovely stay. I look forward to seeing you back again some day soon.
