Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - it was a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire.
The cottage was well equipped (more kitchen utensils than you'd ever need!) and discovering the outdoor games equipment was a very nice surprise. It kept the kids, with their inexhaustible energy, entertained after a day out allowing us to relax.
One very minor issue was there could be some tips on how to get the downstairs rooms heated better what with the thermostat being upstairs, but otherwise we truly enjoyed the stay.
Everything provided, great upstairs lounge, dining, kitchen area wth some great views. Comfy beds, good hot shower. Only slight negative, lots of woodlice in bedroom, but it is a very old , rural setting perhaps to be expected.
setting is ideal; lovely views and proximity to Newport and the beach. great for walking in the hills, on the coastal path or exploring further afield. The house is well looked after and serviced and is very comfortable. Particularly liked sitting on the decking area, the wood stove and the garden with toys on hand. Very well equipped kicthen
would be nice to have some more descriptions of walks and paths in the area and it was a bit starnge that there was a car in the carpark area that appeared to belong to non one.
We booked the sunny retreat cottage behind directory for a weekend day .We arrived stressed out and tired after a week of moving house and this charming little cottage worked its magic on us , we left on Sunday relaxed and happy .beautiful views, lovely area, great place to stay
A lovely converted 'cottage' in spacious grounds. We enjoyed staying in this sympathetically converted home. The living areas were a joy, but the sleeping arrangements were not suitable for our party : a beautiful double bedroom and two small beds in smaller bedrooms. We were a group of three women and these sleeping arrangements would much better suit a couple or a small family. The sofa bed was in the living area which had little barriers against the early morning light. However, this is a dilemma, which as a group of walking women, we struggle to solve year after year and property after property. The manager was friendly and helpful and we would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives.
The cottage is very nice... in it own grounds, no neighbours (apart from adjoining main house but was empty when we were there), so very quiet and peacful place to stay. Views of the sea from some windows and corner of main house garden. Lovely big garden, divided into different areas, with barbeque facility and table and chairs. Cottage is old style with brick walls (painted white), very nice. Large lounge. We had a very relaxing time. Lovely walks from the house, can recommend the walk down to the sea and along coast to Newport. Newport has a lot of very nice restaurants and a few traditional pubs. Good location for driving to other areas like New Quay, Cardigan and Fishguard. Cottage also has a log fire, but we didnt use it.
The only problem we had, which is why it got 3 stars and not 4, is the main bedroom had a damp smell, and we had a baby which we we worried about sleeping in a damp room, and although it states wireless internet, it is a very weak signal on the stairs which cuts out a bit. Apart from that it was lovely and would get 4 stars from us othewise. Thanks for a nice break in a nice cottage.
