The home of Barry & Hennie is better in reality than the photos suggest. The house is spacious and in a traditional French style. The grounds are extensive allowing opportunity for Boule, table tennis and a leisurely walk into the neighbouring fields. We were lucky enough to arrive on the day of a French festival and were welcomed to join the village celebrations including an apperative, BBQ, wine and a disco in the bibliotheca next door! Aside from that this is a sleepy French village in great proximity to La Rochefoucald and easy reach of the nearest supermarket in Mansel. The owners are at hand but definately leave you to your own devices. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing holiday, oh and the impromptu meatballs on our arrival day when we were ravenous!
Visiting France all the way from Australia we had high expectations of this our chosen home away from home for a lengthy period of 11 weeks in 2013.
This fully furnished 2 bathroom, 3 bedroom house with large lounge and kitchen as well as great outdoor eating and entertaining area with a swimming pool surrounded by large acreage of fruit trees, blackberry and raspberries all ripe for the picking.
Our hosts Hennie and Barry are extremely caring people without crowding and respecting the renters privacy.
We enjoyed 2013 so much that we returned to Maison Belle Vue again this year (2014) and again for 11 weeks and our stay did not disappoint.
The entry to this property is through automatic gates where your car is safely garaged under cover. The house offers everything one could need even the church bells peeling at 7.12 a.m. every morning for the farmers but if you don't want to be woken then you can just close your bedroom window and sleep in to your hearts content.
Fresh eggs are always available from the farmer next door even if you don't speak French.
Many fine restaurants exist within a 30 kms radius. Most with very affordable fixed price menus.
The listing description for this property is accurate in every respect. The property is clean and well maintained and your hosts know the area well and provide excellent customer service.
My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending this property and fortunately for some, this property will be available in 2015 as my wife and I are relinquishing our long term booking because we have just purchased a property in the area.
Prospective renters need to be aware that with this property you get what you expect right down to fly screens in bedrooms and lounge room.
This is a very important aspect as I have heard some disappointment from renters at other houses.
This certainly is a property that should not be overlooked and we rate it very highly.
