Over Martijne en Bernard Neuhaus
We are Martijne and Bernard. We enjoy travelling very much and always take bed & breakfasts on our trips, as we believe this is the nicest way to meet people and get the best possible personal care. When we started our own bed and breakfast in 2006, we wanted to offer the same level of service to our own guests. So we look forward to welcoming you in our home. Martijne is a porcelain painter and has a small workshop at the top of the building. She is also a member of the Vondelcarrousel, which gives presentations of amazone horse riding in the Hollandsche Manege. Bernard was a film producer and film director, and is now retired.

We are both born in Den Bosch, a city in the south of Holland, met each other there and went to Amsterdam for our studies. Amsterdam was so impressing with all its culture and international contacts that we decided to stay here.
Wat deze vakantiewoning zo uniek maakt
We choose for this house because it had preserved the original style and decoration of the 19th century, when it was build. Besides that, it was large enough to accommodate Bernard's film production company, so that he never had to end up in traffic jams.

Great location, great value and comfortable!
This property was just what we were hoping for. The location was close enough to walk to downtown Amsterdam or hop on the tram system to get through out downtown even quicker. The apartment was the size of a hotel room. Comfortable bed for 2, a small table for meals and updated bathroom with a great shower. The Dutch couple that owned the B & B were very helpful and delightful. The room was cleaned daily and the small refrigerator was restocked daily with various fresh foods. (Rolls, croissants, cheese, meat, fruit, Dutch pancakes, drinks, etc) Due to the delicious foods they provided, we only ate out once a day. We stayed for a week in July and the temperatures varied, so the Air Conditioning unit was much appreciated. The room also had a flat screen tv with satellite and a small safe for personal items if you wanted it. If we were to visit Amsterdam again, we would absolutely stay at this property again.
Short but sweet
My companion and I spent only one night here and I really wish we could have stayed much longer. It was a brief stop-over between a Eurostar trip from London and my flight back to the US. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Amsterdam. The room is so comfortable, with many amenities including excellent wifi, a beautifully upgraded bathroom and a very comfortable and inviting bed. The owners were so gracious and kind. The breakfast was elegantly presented and delicious. We walked a short distance to a wonderful restaurant and noticed many dining possibilities in the very well-organized guest book. I would love to return for a much longer stay and I heartily recommend this lovely property.
Great location and hosts
Stayed one week. Loved Amsterdam, even with gray skies, wind, and rain. Nice neighborhood with several restaurant options. Very interesting and helpful hosts. Breakfast was enough to cover lunch. Easy access to tram to go everywhere. Room small but comfortable.
Thank you very much, Gail, for your review! Weather can be changeable here, indeed. You obviously have found some of the 75 museums and 1515 cafés in Amsterdam to prevent getting wet!
You stayed in our Park room. To be exact for other guests: this room is 18 square meters (exclusive the en suite bathroom).
If you plan to return once in the summer, you're very welcome again!
Great location for a weekend trip
Parkzijde B&B is in a great location for a weekend trip to Amsterdam. It is located slightly outside the city center in a quiet neighborhood across from a green and spacious park. My wife and I appreciated how well-connected the location was to public transport, including the main train lines. Furthermore, if you don't want to travel into downtown, there is a great restaurant and bar area nearby where you can blend in with the locals.
Martijne and Bernard were very nice and welcoming. We were not in the room much, but we appreciated their hospitality and breakfasts nevertheless. I would especially recommend Parkzijde B&B for couples on short weekend trips who want to see the city but stay in a more quiet and comfortable setting than downtown.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review! Indeed, our neighborhood has a lot of good local restaurants (we check them regularly!), and there is more to discover, like the Tropical Museum, our local multicultural Dapper market or windmill The Gooijer. Good to read that you had no time to stay much in your room: you were too busy exploring Amsterdam!
Home from home
Our sixth stay and hopefully not the last.
It is a very spacious, comfortable room with a substantial and varied breakfast. The hosts are lovely and provide everything you could possibly need even down to a laptop and printer to ease the check in process!
Thank you very much for this review, especially from you, our so often returning guests! Next year we have the 10th Anniversary of our B&B, which means that you were here most years of our existence. It's worth a party! I know that you are planning a trip far away, so I hope you will enjoy that journey very much, and hopefully see you again the year after.
Parkzijde is located in front of the Oosterpark, which is excellent for a walk or jogging.
