Fabulous view!

We had a wonderful holiday in this apartment.As previously stated the view is amazing and is the biggest plus of this apt over many other rentals .We chose to stay and eat in rather than go out because sitting on the balcony beat the view from many restaurants. We ate out once at the Castel beach club which was very expensive but the food was excellent and the setting magical,we sunbathed here as well .Again a bit pricey but a great experience! We visited the Matisse museum and Museum of modern art both recommended. Nice has so much to offer and this apartment is in a great location to take advantage of this .

Excellent apartment with stunning views!

My son and I spent five nights here and absolutely loved it. The views were stunning and so was the apartment.

The owner Chris was very helpful beforehand answering my numerous questions about the area!

I really cannot understand the poor review about the beds because we both slept incredibly well.

The weather whilst we were there was glorious so the air conditioning was well used. After a long day in the heat of the Cote d'Azure we were extremely grateful for the cool air of the apartment on our return.

The main purpose of our trip was to celebrate my son Robert's 18th Birthday with a supercar spotting holiday so much time was spent in Monaco. We were not disappointed.

I would thoroughly recommend booking activities with "Get your Guide". We used them twice - once for a full day Best of the Riviera minibus trip (in an air conditioned bus and excellent guide). A must if you haven't many days in the area. Also I booked my son an hour's drive in a Lamborghini Gallardo convertible. He mainly drove up in the hills in Monaco which he loved!

Food - in Nice we had two evening meals at Di Pieu which is on the beach front. A busy restaurant and you can't book but lovely pizza and pasta and huge portions. In Monaco we are in Tip Top twice - another Italian restaurant. Prices considering where we were were not too bad! La Tavernetta in Monaco old town was also very good.

We fully intend to come back to Nice and would definitely want to stay in the apartment again. It is very comfortable with excellent facilities and communication with the owner.

Reactie van de eigenaar Jenny - I'm delighted that you had such an enjoyable holiday and a comfortable stay in the apartment. Monaco is only a short distance along the coast from Nice port - I usually take the 15 minutes easy walk to Nice Riquier train station from where you can catch the train to Monaco in about 15 minutes. The advantage of this is that they go straight through the mountains rather than snaking along the coast road like the buses do. The alternative is to catch the 100 bus from outside the flat at Nice Port and that takes about 30 minutes direct to Monaco.

Gorgeous view, terrible beds. Floor was dirty

Mixed feelings. The view is so nice it can seem silly to complain. But the apartment has 3 single beds, one portable one and a pullout couch. None of which are comfortable. We slept on the floor 3 of 4 nights.

In addition, the owner charged me an additional 175 Euros upon arrival for his property managements fees and then another 59 because my flight arrived in the evening.

Reactie van de eigenaar I decided to put 2 single beds in each of the bedrooms to offer greater flexibility for guests who may not always want to sleep in a double (e.g. children of families or sharing friends). When choosing the beds I decided to buy the best quality available and sourced them from Gallerie Lafayette (a top quality Department Store) in Nice. The mattresses are the most comfortable I could find after testing all their available stock and are fully sprung and medium. The "portable" bed to which the customer refers is an equally high quality mattress on a high quality steel bed frame with sprung loaded legs that can be collapsed flat and then pushed inside the other single bed if not required. They both come as one 'unit' and are designed for space efficiency whilst not compromising comfort. The "pull out couch" is a quality double sofa bed in the lounge with a sprung mattress. There is a sliding door to the lounge to enable it to become a private bedroom when guests are sleeping in it. This if the first time a guest has reported the beds to be uncomfortable, but perhaps some Americans are used to much larger beds than are provided in this apartment; also, one of the guests reported to my local agent that she had had recent surgery on her back. The Local Agents fee which was (at the time of this guest making their reservation) payable locally and was prominently highlighted in my contract terms; however, I recently changed my charging structure and it is now included in the online price quoted by HomeAway. The additional 'Late Arrival Fee' is still payable upon arrival in Nice to my Local Agent in Euros and applies to guests arriving after 8pm and is clearly stated in my contract. The wooden floors are hoovered and mopped with wood preservative cleaner between lets, and the bathroom floors are cleaned too.

Nice Port Penthouse stay May 2017

The location of the apartment is perfect for exploring nice and a good base too if visiting the Monaco Grand Prix. The view from the balcony is beautiful and breakfast there in the morning is a great start to the day! The apartment overall was excellent and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. The only negative I would say would be the £260 we had to pay upon arrival which was for cleaning the apartment and towels which I thought was very excessive. That aside, the holiday was absolutely brilliant.

My terms and conditions detail the following: Any additional changes of linen / cleaning can be purchased by you by separate negotiation between yourself and my local agent. An additional 50 Euros will be payable in cash for late arrivals between 8pm – 11pm, and 100 Euros after 11pm. The £260 to which John refers included the £150 Local Agents fee, (which at the time of his booking was taken locally in Euros) and his late arrival fee of 100 Euros as he arrived after 11 pm.

Comfortable stay with a gorgeous view!

This apartment met all our needs, and the view made it unique! We found the apartment to be very clean and comfortable. There were plenty of dishes and kitchen tools. Lots of great restaurants, bakeries, and groceries nearby. Le Local and Le Marlin were two of our favorite restaurants. The view from the apartment balcony was spectacular, both during the day and at night. We used Uber to and from the airport, which we found to be both economical and fast.

I have to agree that UBER is a very cheap and quick way of getting from the airport to the apartment in the Port.... for now. At the end of 2017 the new East West tramline should be up and running, where you will be able to catch a tram direct from the airport to the apartment in half an hour - watch this space.

An Apartment with a Changing View & in a Vibrant Area

We had a really lovely time late October in the Nice apartment looking over the Old Port; we were not ready to go home which is always a good sign that you are comfortable in your surroundings. The apartment has a lovely outlook both in day when you look out over the activity in the Port and then the evening when the lights on Castle Hill opposite flicker as the evening breeze rustles the foliage on the hillside.

The apartment is exquisite and in a vibrant area, it is on the top floor of a well maintained block, when the three balcony doors are closed you hear very little outside noise. The living room is very airy and overlooks the Port; the kitchen area takes up very little room but is big enough to cook an interesting meal. The beauty of the apartment over an Hotel is that you can self cater and in the Port area there quite a few excellent shops in the Italian quarter. Personally my favourite shop was "Charcuterie Italienne" on the Rue Bonaparte. Favourite restaurant (yes we did eat out as well) was "La Flara", the elderly gentleman can certainly cook an excellent steak in the pizza oven and I loved the pizza straws with my pastis. The neighbourhood is superb for food shopping, but it would be perhaps difficult to describe as taste is so personal, not everyone goes on holiday to cook but then that is why I sometimes like to self cater, if you admire fresh local produce you just want to move to the next logical step.

We would like to visit the area again and see how the new Metro Tram line (Airport to Port) when it opens in 2018. The work opposite at the moment is fascinating and can only enhance the area in the future.

Reactie van de eigenaar I agree that the views from the lounge and balcony are quite special. I feel as though I'm on holiday from the moment I arrive, irrespective of the time of year. The new tram will run directly from the airport to the port (just outside the apartment) from 2018, but in the meantime, I've discovered that getting an Uber cab from the airport is quick and half the price of a standard taxi, so it makes a lot of sense to do that instead of going by bus.

Nice / Haven van Nice

Nice is een prachtige stad met alles wat je zou kunnen wensen - spectaculaire landschappen, musea en galeries, geschiedenis, geweldige architectuur, eten, stranden en glamour.

Nice Port ligt op 5 minuten lopen naar het bruisende oude binnenstad. Het is een doolhof van kleine winkeltjes en restaurants die leidt naar de waterkant, waar u kunt eten en genieten van de jachten en cruiseschepen.

Grote werken vond plaats in 2010-11, die een dubbele breedte stoep hebben geschapen waardoor buiten te dineren over de gehele lengte van de weg.

Een nieuwe tramlijn, te wijten aan geopend in 2014 zal eindigen bij de haven en lopen de hele weg van de haven naar de luchthaven.
