'Trullo della Luna' is a farmhouse, the typical building house you can find in Valle d'Itria: it’s a classic four-cone rural trullo. Only the local peasants once used this type of building, now its shapes are appreciated by the entire world and are representative of this Italian region and its ancient culture. This area of Apulia is becoming a new-Chianti, a place where the nature fuses its beauty into the controlled, quiet human environment. I bought this trullo when it was completely abandoned. As I am an architect, I saw it as if its dry-stone blocks were the ruins of an ancient temple, and I have restored it with a great enthusiasm. My aim is to rent it for holiday stays and use it for my familiar purposes.

Let me point out the importance of this ancient rural architecture: I delighted to visit and study all the ancient ways of doing the trulli (trulli is the plural of trullo). I verified how all small constructive solutions are a concentration of popular wisdom.
The original cones are made without the use of any plaster and the craftsman who was committed to do this type of activity was always a specialized workman.
Nowadays there are only few specialists for doing all these details. I have funded the restoration of Trullo della Luna having clearly the aim to preserve all these aspects.

'Trullo della Luna' is een boerderij, het typische bouwhuis dat je in Valle d'Itria kunt vinden: het is een klassieke trullo met vier kegelplanten. Alleen de lokale boeren gebruikten ooit dit type gebouw, nu worden de vormen door de hele wereld gewaardeerd en zijn ze representatief voor deze Italiaanse regio en zijn oude cultuur. Dit gebied van Apulië wordt een nieuwe Chianti, een plaats waar de natuur zijn schoonheid combineert tot de gecontroleerde, stille menselijke omgeving. Ik heb deze trullo gekocht toen deze volledig was verlaten. Aangezien ik een architect ben, zag ik het alsof zijn blokken van droog gesteente de ruïnes waren van een oude tempel, en ik heb het met groot enthousiasme hersteld. Mijn doel is om het te huren voor vakantie blijft en gebruik het voor mijn vertrouwde doeleinden.

Laat ik het belang van deze oude landelijke architectuur benadrukken: ik was heel blij om alle oude manieren om de trulli te doen te bezoeken en te bestuderen (trulli is het meervoud van trullo). Ik heb geverifieerd hoe alle kleine constructieve oplossingen een concentratie van populaire wijsheid zijn.
De originele kegels zijn gemaakt zonder het gebruik van een gips en de vakman die zich ertoe had verbonden om dit soort activiteit te doen, was altijd een gespecialiseerde werkman.
Tegenwoordig zijn er maar weinig specialisten om al deze details te doen. Ik heb de restauratie van Trullo della Luna gefinancierd met duidelijk het doel al deze aspecten te behouden.
