Onze prachtig gerestaureerde boerderij is verdeeld over drie verdiepingen.
We had a fantastic stay at Gabrielle's house. Our party of 8 adults, 4 kids and a baby settled in quickly with everything we needed close at hand. It doesn't feel like a 'holiday home', more a beautifully equipped family home that we were able to enjoy.
The area itself is very quiet, and all the better for it. The village has the essentials and more, including an informal restaurant serving awesome truffle pizzas for 5 euros. Beat that Pizza Express.
But venture a bit further and there are lots of lovely towns to visit, or even head up to the lakes in less than 2 hours on empty roads. (You do need a car to make the most of the area.)
Roberto looks after the house, and was helpful and available: can't ask for more than that.
There's no aircon but that didn't bother us - lots of windows to open. Only real 'watch' would be the mozzies: they're vicious. Go equipped.
Really recommend this place for a family or a group holiday.
What can I say, our stay at Gabrielle’s villa was amazing and lived up to everything and more!
The booking was a breeze. Gabielle’s was so passionate about the area and providing a wealth of information. During our stay, Roberto the housekeeper was helpful and friendly and visited a few times to make sure we were all OK.
The villa itself is fully stocked with everything you would need for your stay. You can tell it is a “home from home” for Gabrielle’s family. The bedrooms are all very spacious and clean. As you look at the villa, on the top floor, the bedroom on the left has its own en-suite shower room. On the right, there are two bedrooms connected together (you have to walk through one to get to the other from the hall). The bathroom is located off the first bedroom. This is replicated on the first floor, although both are shower rooms
All the bedroom bath/shower rooms have key locks. This was great if you have a toddler and didn’t want them wondering around during the night!
Gabrielle was also happy to setup a bedroom in the Piano room for one of our single guests on the ground floor. Although there is only a W/C on the ground this wasn’t a problem, they just used the shower on the 1st floor.
The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you will need for your stay. There were also board games and computer consoles in the Piano room for you to use.
Outside in the garden, the pool is gated for toddlers (a god send for us!).The pool itself is very clean and a great place to cool off! There is also covered area for a gas BBQ after which we used several times!
Please be aware to make sure you bring anti-mosquito spray and use it every evening! There were also wasps around, but they didn’t bother us once.
Around the local area, many places are in drivable distance: Genoa, Portofino, Lake Maggiore, Turin etc. In our opinion the best supermarket was about 20min drive away Il Gigante in Nizza Monferrato which is open every day (including Sundays).
I can’t recommend this Villa and area enough!
Thanks for a great holiday.
The property was nice and clean with great facilities and Gabrielle was most helpful with information prior to arrival. Roberto the housekeeper was excellent in arranging a meal at the local restaurant, which was interesting to say the least, and his dad also provided us with great produce from his allotment. The children had plenty to entertain them, with the pool and games, and we all had excellent meals eating fresh produce, and drinking good wine, around the large table in the garden. We had good pizza meals out at Nizza and Asti as well as a great round of golf at Club Margara.
Our party of six adults, youngish and older, stayed for a week at the property and wished it had been longer. The house is very spacious and well equipped and, because it is used regularly by the owner, did not feel like a holiday home. The garden is compact but has a good covered barbecue area and a pleasant pool. Roberto, who looks after the house in the owners' absence, was very helpful and soon sorted out any minor problems that we had. The village is not in a tourist area, but does have several shops and restaurants used by the locals, and the restaurant just round the corner from the property serves very good meals with plenty of local wine for a very reasonable cost. Roberto will make a booking for you and also advise on other places to go locally. The vineyards and scenery up towards Asti are well worth visiting. Hiring a driver was expensive but gave all of us the opportunity to do some wine-tasting. Quite a lot of the vineyards are closed to visitors in August though so we were not able to visit the ones that we really wanted to go to. Driving to the coast is easy and we had a lovely day trip to Camogli. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay.
We had a wonderful holiday, the accomodation was excellent and the pool was a must with the weather - we had 37 degrees. The garden was really safe and good fun for the children with plenty of seating for 15 and toys for the kids. It was so nice to see so much greenery in the region and the care taken to keep the garden in such good condition - it was really pretty and you will find that you will be in it all day long.. The interior is of very high standard, with everything you would require, although I would say that some air con in the top bedrooms would be welome as it was very hot in the evenings even with all the fans. We were made very welome in the village which has ample shops and a good restaurant, however do not expect anything to be open between 12 & 3pm. There are lovely walks directly from the house and large super markets which are excellent only 15mins away. Roberto the care taker of the porperty was lovely and very helpful and could not have been more accomodating and his english is excellent, which did help! One thing to watch out for are the wasps, there seemed to be lots of them in the garden, so stock up on repellent when at the supermarket. But all in all the property was of a very high standard and we could not find fault with anything.
Our stay at Casa Monte Bella lived up to all of our expectations, it was very well equipped, extremely clean and well maintained. The pool and garden area is great for a family with children. We found it was easy to 'sit and enjoy' the days and evenings and just relax. Bergamasco is a warm and friendly village that has excellent shops, bank, post office and doctor plus the all important Trattoria's. Wine in the area is superb and we fell for the Barbera /Barbaresco (reds) and Roero Arneis /Gavi (whites). The location is excellent with mountains, lakes and the sea all within day trip distance (1- 2 hours max journey times). We would return!!!
Wist je dat Bergamasco Village op de 2e zondag in oktober een jaarlijkse truffelbeurs houdt? Het is nog steeds warm en kan het zwembad nog steeds gebruiken.
