Stayed in this lovely villa for 10 days (7/19) with my husband and 16 yo daughter. Perfect for our needs. Very relaxing and peaceful location, with a view of the mountains from the back garden and views down into Kalkan to the sea, from the front. It’s on a quiet road, away from the main bars and restaurants - the only noise were the cicadas - perfect for sipping wine on the sun terrace, in the evenings, overlooking the pool. We cooked in the villa 50% of the time: the kitchen was fully equipped and has a full oven, grill, hob and microwave, there’s also a built in stone barbecue in the garden. Our local supermarket (Migros) was about a 10min walk down hill, with a buzzer to call a taxi for the journey back (too warm to walk with bags of heavy shopping).
Kalkan has a great choice of restaurants. For us, it was a 20 min walk, downhill, to the Marina and the cobbled streets of the old town (for the shops, restaurants and bars). We found a route through the backroads; down to a footbridge (over D400 dual carriageway) and down into the old town. Always plenty of taxis available to take us back home; up the steep hills; for 20 Turkish Lira (7 to £1 at time of writing).
The villa has lovely pool with plenty of padded sun beds, drink tables and parasols, surrounded by stone tiles and lined by shrubs, climbers and flowers. A beautiful area to read, snooze and sunbathe in.
My daughter loved her room at the top of the villa, with a double bed, en-suite bathroom and roof-top terrace. Our double room was spacious, with an en-suite and separate balcony. All with great views down into the resort.
In summary, wonderful relaxing holiday in a gorgeous location.
Lovely Villa, excellent location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Villa Guzel on the outskirts of Kalkan. (Family of four including two older teenagers). The villa was spotless, well equipped and the pool a perfect size, the outside area well maintained. (Each morning the pool was cleaned by Verdat who was charming and helpful). The villa had air conditioning and flat screen TV with DVDs but more importantly WiFi so the teenagers were happy. The photos of the villa are relatively accurate but some building work has taken place to the side. This does not take away from the super position the villa has on the hill.
Whilst it is possible to walk into Kalkan we would recommend hiring a car asthe road is very steep and the villa a good 20 minute walk into the centre besides there are many beautiful areas to explore outside of Kalkan (Patara Beach and its Lycien City, Kas and Fethiye to name but a few). Kalkan itself is a relatively quiet resort with a small local beach and lots of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. It makes a fabulous choice for a family holiday location and even our teenagers were not bored as there were plenty of activities nearby to suit them too. We discovered the delights of quad biking and horse riding as well as the watersports on offer.
We would highly recommend this villa and Kalkan to friends and family. We are considering a return visit soon!
Beautiful villa with great views over Kalkan
Stayed in Villa Guzel for two weeks in late June 2015. Our party was four adults and one 15 year old boy. Villa Guzel is a beautiful villa sitting on the hillside overlooking Kalkan. Villa Guzel has 3 great ensuite bedrooms with a fully fitted kitchen and good wifi which kept out 15 year old entertained.
The villa has a good pool which is long enough to enjoy a swim and well has going for a dip to cool down. However the pool is one depth all round and you do need to be 5 foot 10 inches tall to be able to stand up in the pool.
The villa sits on the hillside and is about a 15 minute walk down to the old town and the harbour with its wonderful selection of very good restaurants. It is easy to get a taxi back up the hill from the old town and the harbour as it is quite a challenge to walk back up the hill to the villa especially if you are carrying any shopping. There is also a pub called the swan next door to one of the supermarkets half way down the hill into Kalkan that has a good quality pool table which is only £2 an hour to play.
All in all a great villa overlooking the wonderful town of Kalkan. I would highly recommend a stay in Villa Guzel.
