Went there to stay while bear hunting and enjoyed enjoyed being next to the water watching the sunset almost every night!
We’ve stayed here twice, and absolutely love it!
Awesome place to stay, and Karen and her mother are both very accommodating with anything you need
Probably my best vacation ever
I'm sorry I didn't rent this house for two weeks. I don't think I've ever been this relaxed. No neighbors, no worries, no noise, my dogs were so happy and we just loved swimming in the Sound. It was so blissful I forgot what day it was. I could rent this place for a month. If you want fancy, this isn't for you, but Linda and Karen go out of their way to make sure that everything is ready and available to meet your needs. Linda is on call for any problems and very attentive and kind. I was so happy that we didn't have to take linens and towels, they supply so many thoughtful things; it was like being in a small town motel. Not fancy, but quaint, old fashioned. The rooms were small but we didn't spend much time in them and we managed to get our two German Shepherd beds in next to the queen size bed. One of our guests was 6'7 so couldn't fit into the twin bed, and found sofa bed uncomfortable, however he brought a queen air mattress and there was plenty of space in lounge for it.
Bathrooms were great, water pressure was great. I'm already trying to plan some dates for October because I'll be back over and over. It's special and unique setting. I actually prefer it to the overdone, overpopulated, beaches of North Carolina. More opportunities for watersports and the dogs could spend time swimming. Our 3 younger ones enjoyed the blow up tubes and lilo, in the laundry room. Thank you again.
Quiet and tranquil, perfect location to re-connect for quality Family time. Large, 3 Bedroom House that is Pet-Friendly. Karen and Linda were perfect hosts and supplied almost everything we could have thought of to bring along. A magnificent water view is literally out the front door, we spent a lot of time on the spacious front deck overlooking the water. Family memories that we will cheerish for a long time. We also decided before we left that we would be back for another visit in the future. Thank you Karen and Linda for the perfect family getaway long weekend!
I don't think I can adequately explain just how amazing the Scuppernong Riverhouse was. We stayed for two weeks during our annual family vacation. My husband and I along with our two boys, ages 5 and 7 as well as two grandparents. This was an amazing house to enjoy all that the Inner and Outer Banks have to offer. The home was clean and comfortable and the proximity to the water can not be beat! The boys were able to walk outside and play at their own calm sandy beach all day! This was especially perfect because our guys are just too little to swim in the ocean. They could walk about twenty feet into the water and splash and play all day! They loved doing cannonballs into the water off the dock! My husband and oldest son also fished and crabbed right off the dock catching fish and several crabs. The area was absolutely beautiful! The property has lots of land around it where the boys could run and explore and play soccer and baseball.
We spent several days exploring the Outer Banks which is a short 45 minute drive away. It was so great to explore all the beautiful towns there and then be able to head back home to the Riverhouse.
The owners were absolutely amazing and even left us some homemade peach preserves as a welcome gift. I cannot recommend this home enough for families. It was comfortable for all of us and we truly enjoyed our stay. We hope to return someday but until then the Scuppernong Riverhouse will always be a part of our families hearts and memories. Thank you!!!
Not exactly what we were expected
Check in went smooth and the location on the sound was beautiful and peaceful. However, when we went in the house it smelled musty and old. We had to wash the towels and wash cloths before we could use them for they had a sour, musty smell. The house was uneven and you would slide to your bedrooms and baths. The couch had no life left in the cushions and the living room chairs were uncomfortable to sit in.
We made a terrible mistake in our checkout date and didn't realize it till the owner called us on the evening we were to check out. We (all seniors) apologized and offer to leave but the owner said her guest, her nephew, would stay in her trailer up the road by her Mother. My question, where were the cleaning people that were to show up after we left at 11 AM on the day of checkout. We would have gladly vacated the home if someone would have advised us of our mistake. On Saturday, we got up at daybreak, cleaned the house, did the dishes and the laundry, stripped the beds. We had the sheets in the dryer and the towels and wash cloths in the washer when we left a little after 7 AM. We also took out the garbage and had bags for recycled items. The owner said she had to pay for the incoming guests lodging and gas so she kept half of our security deposit. We really felt bad and we would have paid for the extra night but the owner led us to believe there was no problem and in fact she didn't call us back as we asked her to. This is the worst experience in our 25 years of traveling together. The home has a peaceful relaxing sitting but the accommodations in the home need to be updated or replaced. Sorry, but we were all disappointed in the inside of the home but not the location.
This is the first time we had guest stay past their rental date. It was very upsetting that we had to even deal with this situation. The guest was not my nephew that was checking in, (it was a paying relative) that booked and paid. They came late that Friday evening to find people still there. Our cleaners went to clean house and guest were still there. They tried to contact me, but I was out till late with no way of contact due to phone signal. I received a call at 9:30 pm that people were in the house. I offered for them to stay at my house but they refused as they had paid for the week at the Riverhouse. I had to pay for them to drive an hour away and put them up in a hotel for the night. They were also traveling with elderly grandparents. As far as asking 4 elderly ladies to leave late that evening was not what anyone would want to do-as there was no other place close to stay in the area. This is weekend before 4th of July. We do ask all guest to do simple housekeeping when they check out like to take the trash out of the house and put in trash bin outside, take the linens off the bed (this helps them find things left in the sheets) and tidy up some in the kitchen before they leave to reduce the chance of ants. This was an awful situation to be in.
Our house is on the water and inbetween a pocosin. Sometimes there is the musty river smell in the whole eastern nc area. We do have air purifyers in the home to help with any smells. Also linens and towels are always fresh when we put out. Furniture is on a rotation for updating. We just updated mattresses, refrigerator and dishwasher season. Ceilings fans were next this summer. And furniture due this fall. We have things on a schedule so things are updated throughout. This I am sorry things did not work out for them. When we saw them earlier in the week - they seemed to be enjoying everything. They gave us no complaints about the linens or anything about their stay until now that I asked for less than the price to cover the extra night stay.
Edenton is de dichtstbijzijnde stad vermeld op VRBO en daarom werd het gekozen in de zoeknaam. Hopelijk voegen ze Columbia, NC toe aan de zoeklijst.
