Really peaceful weekend before Thanksgiving in the mountains. My family and my cousins family met there. Otter Falls, hike, grandfather mountain, and the grandfather Mountain winery are within a 25 minute drive for the most part. The cabin itself has pretty spacious bedrooms but the kitchen is painfully small. There is basically one of every cooking tool, like one mixing bowl, one baking sheet, etc. I thankfully brought my crockpot so it was fine. I definitely recommend buying groceries and anything you think you might need before getting to the cabin because it is a pain to drive back out to the grocery store and there’s no good grocery store around just Dollar General. The drive up the mountain to the house is really sketchy because it’s under construction and it’s mostly just a dirt/gravel road and we were in a regular 2WD van. If it had been raining/snowing, I don’t know if we would’ve made it. But it turns back into pavement a little bit before you get to the house so we had brought the kids bikes and they had fun going up and down the hills. Also, the property is a pretty steep incline for those with small kids that might need direct supervision. But our older kids (7-11) loved playing in the forest and exploring. The cabin had a lot of board games and puzzles that the kids found entertaining and fun, they played Clue about 100 times. The hot tub was my favorite part. Very clean and a nice way to end the day. The overall space was clean and well kept.
