To say it in almost the exact same words of the owner: “If you’re looking for a 4 or 5 stars treatment which will be given in one of those all-inclusive resorts in the South of the island of Tenerife, with all the possible comfort, like every day clean towels, your room cleaned and your bed properly made up, then you’re definately in the wrong place here.”
But if you don’t mind staying in a little village, and if you appreciate the quietness of the surroundings, this place is actually perfect. You’re far away from the well known tourist centers with their high hotelbuildings which pollute the sky; in fact you’re staying amongst the locals and enjoying everyday life of the Canarios.
The owners, Achim and Barbara, are very friendly and hospitable and surely can give you lots of advise about the surroundings and other beautiful places on the island.
The finca is situated on the edge of some kind of barranco. The owners house is built on the upper terrace; the gueststudio is on the second terrace, with separate entrance and really stunning views onto the barranco on one side and on the other side the ocean and on clear days the island of Gran Canaria. You also have a garden on a more lower terrace to your disposal. Every morning you can sit outside and have your own prepared breakfast while at the same time enjoying the views.
And beside the lower garden….there’s the barranco…. what more can you wish for? And on top of that…the chickens will keep you company every morning and will become your best friends!!!
The owners also have two dogs; at your arrival they bark like you're trespassing, but once they get used to you, you’ll notice that they’re harmless and quite friendly and actually only a little bit curious of their new guests. They’re trained well and will respect your privacy; the only disadvantage is that the dogs will do their duty almost everywhere on the premises. :-(
Tenerife is an island with more than only sun and beaches. In the direct environment of the house there’s not really much to do or to see. Villa de Arico (actually the finca is in La Cisnera) is a small village, but the region of Arico does have a lot of opportunities if you like to hike. A car is a must.
Finally, like already said before, this is not a 4-star accomadation, but definitely a 4-star validation.
Achim and Barbara, thanks for showing us this part of Tenerife; it made our stay complete.
