From the moment of our arrival to the final wave "arrivederci", our visit to the Lake Como Beach Resort was delightful.
Having never been to LCBR, we were a little unsure of the exact location (in spite of extensive "Google Maps-Street View" explorations) and our driver was at a loss, too. Thanks to our Verizon International Travel Plan we were able to reach Eric, our host, who dropped what he was doing to assist us, jet-lagged and delirious... He grabbed our luggage and trundled us off to La Meridiana, a local trattoria, for lunch. Then we repaired to our lovely Villetta #5, "Vista Lago". Ahhh... uncorked the red wine and sat back to soak in the afternoon sun beaming onto our private second-floor balcony. That night, we were awakened by brilliant moonlight streaming in the bedroom's French doors, diamonds dancing across the lake, the little village on the other side providing its own spray of twinkling lights.... could this scene be more perfect, more romantic? Poets die for inspiration like this!
The local market, run by Vincenzo and Luisa is a 15 minute hike via elevator and stairs, try the gnocchi, the assorted salumi, cheeses and wines. Fresh bread every morning... get there early for best selection... Luca will deliver your groceries if you ask, minimal charge, perhaps only a tip... Peppo's Bar, across from the Gastronomica, offers decent fare and an assortment of beverages: teas, coffees, beer, wine and spirits, accompanied by a panoramic view of the lake. (The bus stops there, too. About every 1/2 hour along the lake road to Como, one way, Bellagio the other.)
We took the ferry on 3 separate days to Bellagio, Varenna, Menagio, Lenno... charming villages, all. It was mid-October and the crowds were diminished from summer levels. The ferry is just 5 minutes from the Villettas along the lake front walkway. Catch the ferry: 11:08 AM, pay on board. Best value: multi-day pass.
Recommend: Enoteca Cava Turacciolo, Bellagio... Ristorante Vapore, Torno... Il Pomadorino, Como, and a tour of Villa Balbianello!
Blessed by a rainy day? There's a fine selection of movies and books in the resort lobby and beverages for sale.
Come and go at your own leisure, Eric and Robin are your resource for problem solving and, while being available, they're not omnipresent. Once you meet them, though, you'll want to hang out with them constantly! Seriously, they're that nice and that much fun!
We loved our visit and eagerly anticipate our return!
Off season visit. Quiet, beautiful and so relaxing. Hospitality was outstanding. Eric & family made me feel right at home. I will happily return!
The beauty of Lake Como is well documented but still stunned us. We spent hours just staring at the lake which was just a few metres from our front door.
If you stay here, you will soon meet Eric who is way more than being an exceptional host. NOTHING is too much trouble for him on behalf of his guests and with Eric on your side, you could enjoy a holiday anywhere. His local contacts become your local contacts so no disappointing experimentation needed, just ask Eric.
Eric was awesome. He went out of his way to handle any guest's needs. My adapter blew and Eric repaired it within 2 days and meanwhile made sure I could still use my phone. Very nice accommodations. Wine, beer, water available at very affordable rates. Would do anu thing to make your stay the best. Loved it!
This is an ideal location for couples and families who are looking for a relaxing break. The grounds and sun deck allow you to sun bathe and swim and relax. Equally you can be more active by hiring a motor boat which is delivered direct to the property's private jetty.
There are local bars near by but also a superb Deli where you can stock up on local produce to BBQ at the property.
Eric Robin and Ghisele make the stay effortless.
Well worth a visit.
The property itself is a gem - it sits ON THE WATER with gorgeous panoramic views of the lake. The apartment is perfect, all that you need, very clean and well-maintained. There was a big storm our first night in town which knocked out the Wifi but the owners had it repaired quickly the next morning. The bottom floor of the apartment has a sitting area, dining table, small kitchen and a TV. A winding staircase leads up to the bedroom and bathroom, with a cute balcony. Plenty of room, lots of closet space if you stay longer. The lobby is just a few steps away, with beer, wine, milk, coffee, etc. for purchase. Lots of great restaurant recommendations, maps, local guides, and helpful information. The town itself is small, with just a market and a few restaurants but you're so close to the other larger cities that it never feels too far away, more like the perfect escape. The true heart of this place is Eric and Robin, who own the property and are the best hosts we've ever had. They are warm, welcoming, helpful, available, and so kind. We felt right at home and very well cared for from the moment we arrived and through every moment of the trip. When we return to the lake (and we will!) we will stay here again, no doubt.
