LCBR is located in a very peaceful and tranquil setting, where the senses can be soothed in the beautiful outdoor space, listening to the lake lap onto the shore and watching boats bobing gently to and fro. The garden and private lakeside bathing area are more then adequately furnished with quality furnature, where every thought has been given to guests comfort. The viletta's are clean, comfortable and nicely furnished with beautiful views over the lake from a private balcony. The kitchen has everything one may need for 'holiday' cooking and most guests prepared food indoors and would eat out at the tables provided around the garden, this had a little community feel about it. There are also barbiques in the outdoor area which we used and would recomend.
We found Eric and his team to be friendly, helpful and professional. Eric has a wealth of information about the local area and was around the resort on a daily baisis to ensure that geusts had everything needed to enjoy thier holiday.
Pognana Lario itself is a quiet little village, with a cafe, supermarket with butcher and one resuarant, all three can meet your needs. We frequented Peppo's Cafe and felt like locals there, it was extremely friendly offering good homecooked food at resonable prices (you can buy bus tickets from Peppo's which is cheaper than buying on bus). The supermarket was also very friendy, stocking everthing you would need. We would recommend the butcher, particulrly for barbiqueing!!
Getting around Lake Como from Pognana is extremely easy; the ferry is a 5 minuite walk away and buses run frequently in both directions from outside Peppo's. We liked to take the ferry to Cernobio and then walk along the walk way (about 5K) to Como spend the day there and then take a ferry back to Pognana.
A peaceful base for couples to explore Lake Como.
Thank you for everything and for having this special place. It was so nice and we all 5 enjoyed it so much. Beautyful with the lake view. Would like to come back. And everyboby was so nice. thank you from our Hearts.
Sidsel and family
Met owner Eric when we checked in, very personable, helpful, and knowledgeable, using his connections in the area to secure us a late dinner reservation. The location is lakefront, arrived at after traversing a LOT of poorly-installed steps and one elevator (be careful and walk slowly.) the apartments are nicely set up with lake view and balcony, four burner stove and decent sized refrigerator. And they can meet emergency needs, like coffee. It is well situated, a walk to lake ferry, and there is a Bellagio-Como bus a 10-minute walk up the hill (one of the greatest bus rides del mondo).
Problems are little design issues, and electronic. We specifically took this place because of the WiFi so we could be in contact and for a day of work, but it was spotty at best; I spent an hour of my precious vacation time over a week struggling with WiFi connections on my iPad (I later found no problem with my MacBook), which we were using to plan our days. Better not to advertise it than have it work intermittently; I could have rented my own WiFi hotspot for a week for €20 and been better off.
Design issues: the apartment is not air conditioned. Not normally a problem, but when temps get into the 90s, you need to take action. You now face the choice of mosquitoes, because there are no screens, or dealing with internal temperatures in the 80s. Also, the sleeping quarters are upstairs, and hot air rises, so it was a 5-6 degree difference, and there was no way to vent the heat from the second floor. Installing a fan into the ceiling (low sones, quiet bath fan, perhaps) to vent the heat could solve this problem. Alternately, including an extension cord (because outlets are few and poorly distributed) in the standard equipment would allow for better use of the two fans supplied to draw in cool air. First, screens. Last design issue is that walls are thin and you can hear squeaks and conversations from nearby apartments.
Suggestions to the owners: buy a chimney fire starter for the grills. Find a way to get screens on the bedroom windows. Have at least one 4-meter extension cord in each unit. Have the maid soak the shower head in white vinegar after each guest departs to dissolve the lime that blocks many of the holes through which water flows. Find a way to add counter space in the bathrooms, which are non-functional.
If you come at a cool time and do not care about Internet access over WiFi, you'll have an enjoyable stay here.
We went to Lake Como Beach Resort wtih our infant twins and my cousin't family. It was perfect for our families and time together in Lake Como. Eric, Sylvia, Giselle and Mohammid were the best hosts. They all were friendly, helpful and available to make sure our visit was perfect. THANK YOU!
We did visit Lake Como Beach Resort late August 2014 with my elderly mother and truly liked our stay. The accommodation might not be easy to access, but it was absolutely worth the challenge ( stairs :) )'. Facilities are well kept and Eric who welcomed us was always a good host. Recommendable
This was my third trip to the Lake Como Beach Resort property and as ever, Eric and his family made us feel welcome and very taken care of. The viletta was comfortable and had everything we needed; the BBQ area for al fresco dining was again much appreciated. There really is nothing to fault when you look at the position of the villas, the wonderful garden and bathing area and the general tranquillity of the spot. Easy access to the boats, both ferry and for a few hours, privately rented is a great bonus. Would highly recommend this property and really can't wait to make another trip and try out some of the other properties that are part of this Resort also.
