We have rented the villa in August 2012. Everything was perfect !
It begins with a welcome basket (we could nearly have arrived without doing any shopping on the first evening !). The house and the swimming pool (at a good temperature) are regularly cleaned, the sheets and towels changed, all this without disturbing us.
The sleeping rooms and the living room are much more beautiful in reality than on the pictures. Though a car is needed, the house is very well-situated, in the centre of the islands, a few km from the most beautiful beaches, in the vicinity of the Aqualand, and near a crossroad that leads to all the parts of the islands. The area is peaceful (no noise in the night).
We never go on holiday in the same country, but if we went to Corfou a second time, we would rent THIS villa again and no other one !
This year was our second year at this wonderful villa which provides every necessary thing you could want! We are in our late 50's,early 60's and my wife has limited mobility but the villa proved ideal though not suitable for wheelchairs - the pool easily accessible by a few shallow steps and like the villa kept pristine by Linda a joy to know and deal with. You do need a car as it is situated in the middle of the island but you can get anywhere quickly and easily. If, like us, you enjoy peace & quiet it's ideal but there are plenty of restaurants & tavernas round about too. Linda has provided lots of seating options both in and outside including a shaded area at the pool. Area is full of wildlife to watch and marvel at. We have already recommended the villa to friends and relatives
We found Villa Kalithea on the internet and it looked and sounded fabulous and just what we wanted. Somewhere away from the crowd and hopefully with good views and a quiet location . The villa sounded to be well appointed with all the usual modern conveniences and more.
When we arrived it was much better than we had hoped for. The property was spotlessly clean and was obviously well cared for by the owners who live next door. The layout was spacious and the areas to sit and eat numerous. The pool, although small was warm and kept very clean.
We spent some time just chilling out but having a hire car in our deal with Travel Republic/Thompsons we soon went exploring the island. It was very green and had very contrasting scenery. The forested hills, mostly cypress and olive groves, were steep and rugged with picturesque little villages nestled amongst the trees. The roads were great fun and narrow with 180% bends every few yards in places. The coastline was specatacular with rocky beaches on the west coast and sandy beaches on the east. The coastline is very rugged with hidden caves and bays only accessible by boat. There were many local Tavernas all of which served tasty food. Our favourite place was 'Stephens on the Hill' in Agios Giordas. It is a hotel and restaurant which caters for the holiday maker with different themed evenings and barbeques and a special Greek Evenings along with dancing.
I would highly recommend this villa to couples wanting a quiet and restful holiday
The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful.
We stayed here in October 2009 & were amazed. The pictures really don't do this villa justice. We had a little trouble finding it as we took a wrong turn off the lane.......just keep going up! When we turned into the drive we had a glimpse of the stunning vista afforded by this property. It faces due south up on the hillside & looks out over the valley. You have an almost 270 degree panoramic view & to the left can be seen Corfu Town, the Ionian channel & the mainland mountains while to the right you can see the sea in the dip of the hills with the resort of Ermones at the bottom. Birds of prey regularly circle overhead & all manner of wildlife can be seen. Local sheep may visit & graze in the fields around. The villa is spotless & well appointed & in immaculate condition. The owners are friendly, helpful & available if needed as they live nearby. The villa gets all day all round sun so is perfect for sunbathing but there is a nice shady pergola should you need to stay cool or use the BBQ there to eat your souvlaki while sipping some local wine. We did! The nearest shop is down the lane & very comprehensively stocked with just about all you could need but the Town is a must to see & is only 15mins or so away. There are several tavernas within a few kms, the nearest being at the bottom of the lane then turn right, Nakos, very good, cosy & handy. We had a fantastic time which we hope to repeat maybe April or October if the budget will stretch, although we find the villa is not with Thomson for that period but is on holiday-rentals.co.uk site then. Overall a terrific villa & we can't wait to book it again!
