Rafel the owner was very helpful & informative, we quickly settled in with his tips on local restaurants & shops. We would recommend La font del gall restaurant on C/Monti Sion. They offer a great set menu for €18. Mallorca in February is much warmer than the U.K. but still cold enough for heating, the apartment has a very good central heating system. As other reviewers have mentioned, the underground car park is very tight indeed so we parked our mid sized vehicle in one of the public car parks a short walk away. I think a meeting of metal & concrete would have been inevitable otherwise.
Just as we had hoped. A beautiful light and airy property, ideally situated close to the main square in Pollensa. The apartment was clean and prepared for us. Rafel, the owner, was very helpful during the process of booking and greeting us at the apartment. We would have no hesitation in booking the Purple Attic apartment again.
The apartment overlooks Placa de Monnares from the lounge and the rooftops of most of Pollensa from the terrace. It's a wonderful situation and the underground garage with lift to the apartment is a huge bonus as parking is a nightmare in Pollensa. However we found it difficult to negotiate with our large hire car and opted for a carpark just 2 blocks away. With a small car it would be fine.
The purple apartment is, if anything, better than the pictures portray. It's extremely comfortable, modern and well equipped with top of the range appliances and furnishings
Rafel has a new wifi system installed and it was faultless. Instructions on how to operate the tv would be useful, not that we aimed to watch it much.
The shower in the second bedroom is very slippery and would benefit from a shower mat. We placed a small towel on the base to prevent an accident.
The views from the terrace are stunning and the remotely operated blind means you can spend all day up there if you want to. It can get breezy up there on occasions.
Restaurants and the Placa Mayor are just a few minutes walk away and the bakery on the corner a minute away, sells very good bread and cakes.
We loved the apartment and were impressed with the way Rafel has equipped it. He gave us recommendations on restaurants etc, and we had a really lovely week there. Of all the apartments, the purple one has the best views and isn't overlooked.
Rafel and Magdalina were very helpful and quick to reply (e.g. printing out our return ferry boarding cards, which was much appreciated). Our only "complaint" would be that a bit more personal information or insights into the town and the immediate vicinity would have been nice. Visitors often look for a guest book to browse through, and I would have expected something along those lines since Rafel did mention he lived in the town itself. On the same level, although there was everything we needed in the purple apartment, supplies were slightly sparse and we found ourselves having to buy in a couple of essential items rather too quickly. This was not a problem in itself (an Eroski supermarket is 3 mins walk away), and we may have been spoilt by our previous week in Palma, but clients do like to feel that absolutely everything has been provided in abundance for their stay.
The apartment was fine, apart from a problem with 'puddling' and ventilation in the shower in the main bedroom. A lot of light also comes into this bedroom from the living room, so we had to come up with a DIY solution to make sure we could sleep well (hint - use cushions). Overall, it was spacious, comfortable, cool and the garage was much appreciated.
Final niggle - there is a persistant smell of wood smoke in the stairwell from the new "Bon Foc" BBQ restaurant downstairs. Rafel said a solution was being sought for this by the owners.
However, there are lots of positives about the purple apartment. Apart from the good overall level of comfort as already mentioned, the views from the balcony are stunning and as a result we enjoyed sending a lot of time up there. We were able to eat outside at all times of the day thanks to a very good sun blind system. Location is brilliant, being literally 2 to 3 mins walk away from the centre and all amenities. We were therefore able to make the most of what is a truly beautiful town and some excellent restaurants, which do need to be booked in advance.
It is also very convenient for trips in the North of Majorca and getting to the local beaches. Cala San Vinç is an easy 10 minute drive away, and if you arrive before 10 in the morning you'll get a very good (free) parking space and a spot on the beach even in the middle of August. We also used the Llenaire beach as our local spot taking the back roads to avoid Puerto Pollensa (15 mins max and easy parking on the side roads - Av. de Llenaire).
We would use the apartment again!
I stayed with family and friends for 1 week at the apartment and would highly recommend it.
It's quiet but in a great location around the corner from the main square in Pollenca with lots of lively bars and restaurants.
A short drive to port pollenca and the beach (5-10 mins in car) and 45 mins from Palma airport.
The airport was very clean and had everything we needed, the only thing was the bathrooms are all en-suite so anyone staying in the middle (twin room) has to use 1 of the en-suites. This was fine for us though.
Sat on the balcony looking out over pollenca was great, especially at night time watching the stars!
Rafael was great and gave us some really good recommendations for restaurants and events to visit during the festival.
Overall an excellent stay and would highly recommend.
The apartment is excellent, very central, 30 seconds walk to main square in the town. Fabulous bakers on the corner of the street for breakfast pastries.
Pollença is a gorgeous town and the apartment is perfect.
