My family and I had wonderful time at casa Nashoba. Our 6 months old daughter loved it, especially the iguanas and the colorful birds including green parrots that inhabit the garden. The house is tastefully designed and well maintained with fluffy towels and fresh linen. The kitchen is well equipped so we enjoyed cooking and even baked cookies. The bed is king size with comfortable mattress.
The house is very clean and surrounded by lush and amazingly fragrant garden with very comfortable porch.
The location is close to the beach, reservoir, bakery and two grocery stores. We loved to walk around and take nearby local bus to Montezuma.
The phone and internet work perfect which is a huge plus.
Brigitte promptly responded to all our question, and was always on top of things. Fanny, Brigitte's daughter and her friend Sophie were nearby ready to help, and advice which made us feel secure and comfortable. Also, every day, Geppetto, the gardner, was greeting us with big smile and chat about Cabuya village.
We loved it at Nashoba house so much that we extended our stay. We highly recommend the vacation at Nashoba, and looking forward to come back!
Family from New York
We stayed in Brigitte´s house for 9 nights in Cabuya and we could not have chosen better. We loved the little village and the property from the first moment we arrived. The house is very clean, beautifully furnished and very quiet and private. The AC in the bedroom helped us to cool down in the evenings, although we loved the hot weather and the tropical atmosphere. The garden is created with care and love of detail, we could have easliy spend days just sitting there and watch the birds flying around. Gepetto, the gardener, came each day and it was fun to talk with him as much as our little spanish allowed us to. He was very nice and patient and tried to help us learning new words. When we had to move on, we were excited to explore more parts of Costa Rica, but we were very sad that we had to leave this house and Cabuya at the same time.
The village itself is very small and tranquil, but it was exactly what we needed and were looking for. The people are very nice, it felt very authentic and we had no problem to get everything we needed in the little supermarkets. Also we loved the sweet bakey in town, where you also can eat great meals. We had many things to do nearby, although we were just traveling by local bus and taxi. The National Park Cabo Blanco and cemetary island of Cabuya (gorgeous) are in walking distance, the nice village of Montezuma can be easliy reached by bus or taxi (we walked there once, which was very interesting and great beaches on the way!) and we even managed to visit Santa Teresa by local bus.
The communication with Brigitte and Fanny was easy and promptly. Both replied to every single answer we had and made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay. They made us feel at home. Thank you so much, Brigitte and Fanny, we hope to come back!
We just returned from an incredible vacation at Casa Nashoba. The house is all we could have asked for and more! It was immaculately well kept with a gorgeous garden, and all of the amenities we needed for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. The owner's daughter welcomed us upon our arrival and made sure we knew where everything was, and was very gracious to make sure we knew we could reach her anytime if we had problems or questions, or even for recommendations of places to go, etc. The house is an ideal location for those who prefer a bit more peace and quiet than the neighbouring towns of Montezuma and Santa Teresa. It took us about 20-30 minutes by ATV to get to either town, but of course the ride there is half the fun on an ATV. We felt very safe at the house and enjoyed daily visits from Jepeto the gardener who faithfully watered the plants on the property every day. We also really appreciated the air conditioning in the bedroom, and the bed was quite comfortable for a great night's sleep. We felt the house was exactly as it was described, and should we ever visit this part of Costa Rica again, we will definitely return to Casa Nashoba.
The house is exactly as described, fenced in and surrounded with a beautiful lush garden. All the wood work in the house is Tek, which is really beautiful! Jepeto the gardener was around on most days and we enjoyed our interactions with him even if our spanish is not exactly fluid! Communication with Brigitte was very smooth. Her daughter Fanny lives in a near-by town and was there for our arrival and check-out. She was very friendly and helpful. They both speak french, english and spanish.
Cabuya is a very remote small village where houses don't really have addresses, so it is best to arrive during daylight the first time. Also keep in mind that whatever time Google map gives you to get there may not be accurate. Roads are rough the closer you get and Cabuya is far from either San Jose or Liberia. For example, our flight landed at 1pm in San Jose. We took the shuttle to the rental cars, waited in line, got the car, made one pit stop for water and drove straight to the ferry in Puntarenas, but missed the 5pm ferry by 10 minutes. That means we took the 8:30pm ferry and arrived in Cabuya past 11:30pm. Fanny was really nice to wait for us, but it was not an ideal situation for neither of us... We also left 1 day earlier to make the trip back to the airport.
About the area, there are 2 little "super" or small groceries walking distance from the house. They are somewhat expensive, but have everything you'd need. We liked the bakery and the Cabo Blanco park (but this one cost 12$ per person, and is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays). On the way to Montezuma there is a shallow river with fresh water that is a heaven because even the ocean is not really refreshing anymore! The road to Mal Pais was passable, but would definitely require an SUV or ATV.
Details to note: A/C in the bedroom only, No TV (you don't want to watch TV when you're in such a beautiful place, believe me!), Internet is very unreliable (this seems to be an ongoing issue everywhere in the area), check-in /check-out time is limited.
