This is a nice house for a couple or a group that is away from the crowds but still in walking distance to downtown Jim Thorpe. The brand new deck out back is great and the house was clean with lots of room.
The cosy house is accurately represented in the listing. Convenient location and great quality for the price.
Some stuff to keep in mind-
The attic bedroom is a foam bed on the floor (you can kinda tell from the pic) and the futon room doesn't have a door. The downstairs bathroom shower is quite small. Nicely stocked kitchen but coffee pot is a mini size. You can definitely hear the traffic in front of the house, so light sleepers may want to take precautions. Gorgeous deck in back - nice place to sit with a glass of wine.
We really enjoyed our weekend away, just thought the above may help in planning your trip.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house in Jim Thorpe. It was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. We walked into town to the train station and onto the rail trail for a hike. We parked across the street and left the cars there for the weekend. We had 3 cars and had no problem finding places to park. we walked to a restaurant for dinner on Saturday night. There are 5 of us and there was room for everyone. Our favorite place was the outside deck where we spent time just hanging out and catching up. It was also very affordable.
The only problem we had was getting the signal from the dvd player to go to the tv. So I would suggest instructions.
We would stay here again.
I reserved two nights for a weekend get away. The first night we arrived with big surprise since the neighborhood is very dark and few of the houses are closed out with peeling walls. We went in, it looked ok inside, however we went to the deck(BBQ area), a giant spider (bigger than my palm) landed on my friend's head. I never saw a spider that big and that was very scary. The beds inside the house are really uncomfortable. We rushed out the second day and moved to another hotel. I try to talk the owner for the refund, but he refused that. It was very disappointing. Not going back any more!!
This 3 story townhome is in very nice condition and quite roomy. The furniture is comfortable, and the rooms look freshly painted. All of the curtains look brand new, and there are 2 nicely updated bathrooms. With 4 bedrooms, it could easily accommodate a large group. The rent is very reasonable especially considering the size of the home. John (the owner) was very kind and extremely fast in answering emails. Communicating with him was quick and easy. I have already recommended this property to a family member.
Home was as described, very clean and comfortable with adequate street parking. Owner was pleasant and accessible. Neighbors were friendly but a tiny bit noisy. Location was great and most attractions -- restaurants, bars, activities -- were within walking distance or a 5 minute drive. Mauchunk Lake Park is lovely, a favorite in the Poconos. Molly Malone's pub has a wonderful outdoor porch that is throughly enjoyable anytime of day. Biking was really fun and hiking can challenge or not, depending on your fitness and desire. The Lake Park is great for an easy walk and the State Parks have more challenging trails. Nescopek park was flatter; Lehigh Gorge and Hickory Run are more challenging. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a convenient, comfortable and reasonable spot to launch outdoor activities.
