Cathy's HOEK GUESTHOUSE
Straat parkeren is beschikbaar.
Voorzieningen zijn onder andere:
- Queen size bed
My husband and I needed a nice place to stay near the Weston where our son and his family were staying for a medical conference. This guest house was the perfect solution. Great view of oyster pond, extremely clean and equipped with all the amenities, fridge, microwave, dishes, shampoo, beach towels even bug spray! None of these things were complimentary at the Weston, not even a mini fridge. We had A/C and the location was gated and very quiet. Our host was available for anything we needed and very kind. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Lovely experience.
My wife and recently spent 10 days in this very quaint guest house. This was our second trip to the island. The house is perfect for what we needed. The gentleman in the main house was amazing. It is gated and separate from the main house. I will say that "Free Wifi" is a bit misleading. While there was Wifi "available" it was from another unit and depending on where you were in the unit it would not work. After the initial shock of no internet for 10 days we embraced it and were actually very happy about the chance to disconnect. Honestly, you can't complain for the price, location, and personal feel that is provided by the caretaker and owner. I would recommend this property for those that are on a budget, and are not looking for an extravagant type of place. This was perfect for us as we were out all day exploring and enjoying the island. I would suggest a car (really if you come to this island there is no reason not to have a car) as this is located in a residential area as opposed to a high tourist traffic area. It is worth mentioning that the Dawn Beach Club timeshare people are super aggressive. They basically try to flag you down (they are very close to jumping in front of cars) they will not let you go and try to swindle you into a very expensive timeshare. Tell them you have done it before and they might leave you alone. I mention this because they hang out right next to the little market that we frequented. I would stay here again, everything about the process was smooth and easy. Thanks again for all of the hospitality! Hopefully we will see you again soon!
I have been traveling to St. Maarten for years and love the Oyster Pond area of the island. Therefore, when planning a recent trip with my wife, I wanted to find a place in that area. After some research, we decided to stay at a local guest house instead of spending lots of money on a hotel. The place we selected, Cathy’s Corner, was fantastic. It is not very big, but provides everything you need for a home base. Dawn Beach is a three minute drive (or 10 minute walk), as are several restaurants. Popular Orient Beach is also relatively close, approximately a 15 minute drive.
The best part of renting the guesthouse, however, was the conversations we had with the gentleman who lives in the main house. He has been on the island for over 40 years and provided us with several excellent activity and restaurant recommendations. He even took us on a local tour one morning. Having a local nearby to provide guidance was truly priceless!
My husband and I were visiting St. Maarten for the first time and wanted to stay someplace quiet and not surrounded by tourists. We didn't know what to expect from this guesthouse, but I liked that it was named "Cathy" since that is my name too. We decided to book it since it was a cheap rate. If we didn't like it, we planned to move to a hotel.
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It is situated in a gorgeous part of the island and overlooks Oyster Pond, a pond that is half on the dutch side of the island, and half on the french side. There was fresh fruit in our room, and we were greeted by the owner who gave us the key and welcomed us to the island. He gave us a lot of advice on what to do and where to go since he has lived on the island for 40 years! There's a great beach below that only took us about 5 minutes to walk there.
This place only sleeps 2, but it was cozy and peaceful. If you're looking to have a real local experience, I would suggest this place. We are thinking of going back for a longer trip in the fall.
