Nice location to a trailhead, great front porch.
Front porch is nice to sit and watch stars. The owner could improve things by making the back porch nicer. In addition it might be a good idea to go easy on the dryer sheets on the bedding & such- for asthmatics and allergists this makes things rough. Had to wash the sheets with no scents after first night. The location is nice and pretty in the evenings and especially the mornings on the front porch- watch for the humminbirds. Saw 5 mule deer one morning close by. Property was all unmowed when we were there festing more mosquitos than we like (a simple provision of a fan in the property somewhere could have been used on the porch to stir the air and keep them at bay). Lots here thats good, can be improved upon for renters. Last thing- two dirt roads on two sides of the property make for a dusty setting. Not too bad, but nevertheless. The trail nearby is very pretty and nice for kids to play in or older folks to soak their feet after a walk in the woods. A very accessible and nice trail by a great stream.
Cabin stay near a trail head
Everything was good except for saturday and sunday. There were 20 vehicles parked on the road in front of house. Car doors slamming and people talking all day and even at midbight.
The cami is in a great location and if you are looking to relax then this is the place, no cell service, no tv and limited Wi-Fi. The cabin has everything you need. The trail head just down the street and the stream that is just across the road is perfect. Loved listening to the stream at night. Our dogs loved the place also. Loved being able to deive to Boulder or Estes Park if we wanted to shop or go out to eat. The only thing we didn't like was having to wait on the sheets and towels to dry the morning we left.
We stayed five nights at the cabin and a great stay. The location was beautiful. My husband went out with a fly fishing guide our first day at the cabin and the kids and I had plenty to do between hiking the trail, playing in the river and exploring the area. There were a few friendly people around camping or hiking and we felt safe the whole time. We enjoyed nearby RMNP and Estes Park. We also explored the Very nearby Brainard Lake recreation area and if you are able, the hike up to Blue Lake is absolutely stunning. Fishing on the St Vrain was fun, it’s full of brook trout and the kids had a blast and even caught some on lures. The cabin is well equipped and I cooked all of our dinners there, I especially appreciated the crockpot so that I could spend my time playing with my kids. It was the perfect size for our family of four and filled with charming antique furniture and plenty of comfy seating around the wood stove. It is far from gas and groceries so make sure to plan your meals ahead and bring your groceries with you as well as gas your car up before heading up the mountain. We had no cell service at all on the mountain (we use AT&T) and the WiFi was spotty and sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. This was a problem a couple of time because we didn’t know the area well, so make sure to bring a map if you are used to getting around using your cell phone. Once we learned the area we actually really enjoyed being unplugged. The trash was not a problem for us, we just dumped it a nearby campground. The cleanup was really not a big deal to us either, it’s really just basic cleaning up after yourself. We brought our own bedding so we could check out early and just did the laundry and cleanup the night before departure. We did not use the wood stove because we forgot to bring firewood, but next time we will grab some because the nights were chilly and it looked so cozy! The location is roughly a 20 min drive to Brainard Lake and the Indian Peaks wilderness area and 45 to RMNP but the drive is absolutely stunning so we did not mind it at all. We even saw two moose down the road from the cabin on our way out one morning! The beds were a bit small but we didn’t find a problem and slept well by the second night. You will enjoy this cabin, especially if you love everything this part of Colorado has to offer!
Great remote location, but not too far from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain Park!
There were four of us staying at this location and we loved it! The location is remote, so there was no TV or cell coverage, but we really didn't mind that! LOVED the St. Vrain Trail that is literally down the road about a 1 minute walk! Very pretty trail and so close. We drove to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain Park every day and only took about 35-40 minutes at the longest. The home was comfortable, and our favorite place was the large covered front porch. We had coffee every morning on that porch! The flowers were pretty and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds too. Only downfall was the housework the morning of our departure. We didn't mind doing it, just that it took longer than expected. Drying towels and linens at that altitude took twice as long as I thought! We also were leaving in the opposite direction of the campground that was recommended for leaving our trash at so....we did not find a place to deposit our trash til almost Boulder! Other than those two things, it was a great stay and a lovely home in the mountains! We would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Rocky Mountains and Estes Park!
Great private cabin
Close to the creek so you hear it all the time. Short walk to a great trail along the creek. The only downsides are the double beds and no AC. Oh, another thing, the request that the lodger wash, dry and fold all the bed linens seemed a little excessive. We were packed and ready to leave but had to wait for everything to dry.
