Owners were very nice and left a loaf of homemade bread. But...…..Cabin needs a good deep cleaning for spider webs, dust and musty smell. The A/C system needs to be vastly improved. Appliances are very outdated. Cable needs to be hooked up to TV in king bedroom.
Owners and management were wonderful but cabin is definitely too rustic for my taste.
Great nature stay
Very homey cabin right on mt Pisgah, the creek right next to the cabin is so tranquil. My family and I had a get stay!
Relaxing Christmas! Karen... Orange City, FL
Our family of five really enjoyed our Christmas holiday at the cabin. We loved the creek
just outside the door. It would be great to sit outside in warmer weather. Thank you for the hot rolls, we loved them. We would stay again!!!
just remote enough to be away from it all, but close enough to everything!
My husband and I really loved staying here! We arrived at night and it’s very dark and in the woods, but that made it more exciting. The cabin has a rustic woodsy feel to it but it’s super cozy and romantic. The stream can be heard inside while your sleeping, and the rain is very soothing. We lost power at 5am one morning for like 4 hours, but other than being a bit chilly it was no big deal. We got some firewood and made lots a fires, that made it even more enjoyable! It’s back in the woods enough that you feel secluded, away from it all, but Asheville isn’t too terribly far. We went to Mt Mitchell one day, that was a bit over an hour away, but we also had to detour due to closed highways. There is no cell service if that is important to you, but with the WiFi you have all you need. Would def come back! Love it!
Very rustic cabin but nice view-
Pros and cons to the cabin
Pros- very remote yet close to hiking and bit a far drive to Ashville :) The River on the property was so nice and when it’s warm enough to have the windows open it provides such a nice sound. The main bedroom we slept in had a nice big bed and the pillows were super cozy. The manager Denise did a great job of keeping in contact in a very short time of sending emails when we had questions and even sent a link for hiking trails . They had all the basics that you could need as far as kitchen equipment with the exception of sautés pans ( no non stick for pancakes )
Cons- the key code for the door was given but not much info last that. A book have us ideas for hikes but we didn’t know if they provided fire wood or we had to until we called. They brought us a pile enough for a few hours then told us where we could drive to get it. The wood wasn’t covered so if it rains you will have wet wood. The cabin is very old which is fine but the heater is one big one in the living room and the oil smell that shoots from a vent outside is very strong . If you have windows open inside it smells like gas. We tried to take a shower and found out they shut off the water heater which we were not aware we needed to find the switch and turn on. The fireplace is in SERIOUS need of cleaning. Although the flu was open we had to push back the wood and open windows to enjoy it and the house still smelled like smoke. You can see the front stone has a ton of black on it from previous fires. Having a fire on cold nights is something we looked for when booking and were very disappointed. It didn’t look like anyone had REALLY cleaned in a while - small bugs on window ledges, oil on stove , mice droppings in sautés pans, other peoples opened crackers in fridge and cupboard, wire hangers still in bathroom and dirt behind the sink spout in the bathroom. When spending money for two nights including a cleaning fee we expected more .
Beautiful setting. Cozy cabin had everything we needed. Convenient location.
