Great place. Quiet (cept for those damn coqui frogs) and beautiful location. We’d definitely stay there again.
We are two couples who stayed at the Ocean View Coffee Farm in March of 2019. The home was beautiful, and the view was fantastic! All of our time at the house was spent on the lanai overlooking the coffee farm and the ocean.
The house was clean, the beds were comfy, and everything was well stocked with kitchen utensils, towels, etc. The flowers and bushes around the property were beautiful, and we enjoyed the wild turkeys running through the fields every day! The location was very private, but yet not too far of a drive to go out for meals or activities. We did many sight-seeing trips and totally enjoyed the "Kona side" of the Big Island! Thank you Albert & Linda!
Home Away From Home
We were fortunate to spend six weeks at the farm this year, completely missing one of the longest winter cold spells in western Canada in years. Although many local residents commented on the unseasonably cool and wet conditions the Kona area was experiencing, we felt spoiled by the tropical reprieve we were getting from the deep freeze at home.
This was our seventh stay at Al's place, and once again our expectations were exceeded. Despite being off island, Albert maintains great responsiveness to guest concerns. Whether it's as small as needing help with correcting a lighting problem, or as large as having a broken clothes dryer replaced within a day, Al keeps guest comfort and convenience first and foremost. Knowing this makes a return visit certain. Mahalo nui loa, Al.
Beautiful location and home
The view and peace of this place are blissful. We loved coming home each evening, morning coffee on the Lanai, and the birdsongs each dawn. All this and just a short drive to Kailua Kona.
Great place to stay
Layout of cottage was perfect for us. Well equipped kitchen, only missing a garlic press. Spent a lot of time on the covered deck with the great views of Kailua-Kona. Contrary to some reviews, we especially liked the big trees blocking the sunset, which can be blinding on a west-facing deck. Loved watching the 12-20 turkeys each day from the deck. Also loved the pomellos on the tree on the way in to the cottage. We found parking in the garage and turning around less challenging than other people mentioned, although the driveway is steep. The couple downstairs parked their Jeep in the garage, too and there was lots of room.
We love the Holualoa area. Less congestion and wonderful cool evenings and sleeping weather.
If you want to book this property, book early. We tried to book the cottage for next Christmas, and although the calendar indicated it was free, the owner had promised the first right of refusal to other people who were repeat customers. We did not like that because it wasted our time and could have resulted in us losing out on another rental property. If it's booked, it's booked, if not, it's not!
This is our 3rd stay in two years and we’ve already booked our 4th and can hardly wait! It’s a wonderful place to stay outside of the touristy bustle of the beachside areas. Quiet, peaceful, spectacular views and real people. Couldn’t be better.
