Property was very much as described, and the photos do a good job of showing it. Everything was clean and pleasant. Definitely rustic, but in a good way. Screen porch is wonderful. There are a lot of steps down to the water (and you have to cross a small road, but we only saw two cars all week). There are some motor-boats on the lake but not many. You can take the rowboat or kayaks over to the very quiet, protected part of the lake and hike up a pretty trail - very cool!
We had a great time using the beach, going for walks, using the kayaks and especially jumping off the floating dock!! The location was perfect, close to town for a quick lunch, then in 5 minutes you are back at the beach! We went for a hike at Mt. Severance and spent a day at Fort Ticonderoga. The cabin was nice, everything you need for a lake getaway. The cabin was clean and the online pictures gave a nice description. We also enjoyed the nice size yard where we played catch and outdoor darts!
I have to apologize as I was hesitant to write this review. Not because the cabin and surroundings were awesome and exactly as listed; not because the beach, swimming area, row boat, floats, and kayaks were an extremely generous compliment; not because the tranqualizing fire pit over looking the lake was so perfectly placed allowing both the sounds of the lake and a view of the starry sky; not because the property included all of the amenities needed for a perfect stay, including a nice clean gas grill placed perfectly under the shade of the trees on the lawn overlooking the beautiful lake; not because the Pike, Bass, and Perch fishing was excellent due to a great amount of structure and varrying topography, not because of the beautiful breeze that blew through the cabin day and night as a result of an open flow from the peaceful screen porch looking over the lake to the rear screen porch backed up to the woods; and certainly not because it was the ultimate Adirondack experience with none better to be found. I simply hesitated because I had become overly selfish from anxiety that if too many others found out about what a remarkable time they will have I'd loose my place of serenity to the masses. But then I heard my Mothers voice ( or maybe it was Barney from when my boys were young, I forget) saying: "Sharing is Caring!" And so I've decided to respect those words and share this with you. I cannot say enough about what Melissa and Jaimi offer to anyone able to stay at their cabin(s). If you've never experienced the wonder, beauty, and tranquility of the Adirondacks this is your place to do so as authenticly as it gets. If you have had the gift of visiting the Adirondacks before this is your place as well. Put your laptop and cell phone away and enjoy the beauty around you. If you really have a jones for your laptop Melissa and Jaimi have provided some vintage laptops for your use, they're called "book" which can be found on the shelf next to the woodstove. Grab one and lay in the comfy hammock under the canopy of the trees or head down to the beach and sit in one of the Adirondack chairs while you dream away. Melissa and Jaimi, thank you both so much for sharing your awesome, awesome place with us. Can't wait for next year, and years to come. The Annello's-West Sand Lake N.Y.
If you're looking for the type of lake cabin you went to as a kid, this is the place. No TV, basically no cell service, super laid back. The cabin is charmingly rustic, with a large and comfortable screened in porch. Town is far enough away, but not too far. Really great swimming - warm water, a floating dock to sit on/jump off and a nice sandy lake bottom. It's great that there's a rowboat and kayaks as Paradox Lake is beautiful (with very little motorboat activity, even on weekends). Gathering around the firepit at night is the prefect way to end the day. Bring: board games, cards, and an FM radio (for weather forecasts from public radio). Thanks Melissa and Jaimi!
My friends and I were planning a girls weekend and saw this place online. We are locals to the Adirondacks but wanted a place we hadn't been too. We decided to give this place a try and we are happy we did. Everything about this place was perfect. They supplied everything you could possibly need, it was clean and very easy to get too. The private beach was perfect for us. We definitely will be back! Thank you!
The cabin is a perfect place to unplug from it all and spend quality time with family. The kayaks are great, well stocked boat shed with enough floatation items for everyone, so much available never an issue with sharing with the other cabin. The front porch was our gathering place with a wonderful view of the lake and a delightful breeze. Fire pit nicely located to maximize view as well. More than enough linens and well equipped kitchen.
