Once again we returned to this magical place, made special by our generous and attentive hosts-become-friends, Kay and Glenn. We enjoyed a much needed rest in the quiet apartment, overlooking the snow covered mountains. We ate way too much of the delicious and generous breakfasts (my mouth is watering for the blueberry pancakes). We found plenty to do in the area, like x-country skiing and shopping, and eating dinner at The Barn. At the same time, we felt no rush to leave our beautiful surroundings. We've already booked our next stay.
We were looking for clean, modern, affordable accommodation with the conveniences of home for our group of two adults and three teenage girls for a holiday weekend trip to Killington. We found just that and more at the Pond Mountain Inn. The loft apartment was absolutely beautiful, comfortable, and provided the space our group needed. We were not quite sure what to expect at a bed and breakfast Inn but the stay was a fantastic experience, one our group will cherish in our memories. The owners were very nice and hospitable to make our stay comfortable and worry free. They were in contact with us to help arrange our stay from the moment we spoke, through our travels, and until we checked out. They put in the extra effort to arrange breakfasts with our schedule and requests, and what a breakfast it was. The girls thought it to be the fanciest meal they ever had! Truly a home away from home.
It gives great pleasure to submit the following review! My husband and I wholeheartedly agree that the picturesque Pond Mountain Inn is our very favorite B&B! AND we have stayed in a lot of B&Bs. Hosts Glenn and Kay are warm and friendly and instantly made us feel right at home. The accommodations are first class, clean and the entire establishment is meticulously well-maintained. The breakfasts are scrumptious and you won't be leaving the table hungry! Highly recommend the beautiful PMI!
This was indeed a "home away." We were looking to rent a house, but found this listing and were thrilled. It's a very unique bed and breakfast, because it is really a loft apartment with a full, well-equipped and stocked kitchen, living and dining room, and separate bedroom (there's a second 2 bedroom apartment down the driveway - it's closed for the winter but Glenn gave us a tour and it's perfect for a family). All the benefits of your own place, plus splendid breakfasts (the pancakes were a favorite for us, and Kay whipped up some waffles for us on another day on request). They went the extra mile and made hot chocolate for me every day since I don't drink coffee. Glenn and Kay are gracious and interesting hosts and we enjoyed our breakfast conversations -- their warmth and hospitality made our week special. Not only was a Christmas tree waiting for us, but a generous and thoughtful gift for us to unwrap on Christmas Day and later in the week we were treated to cocktails in front of a (truly roaring) fireplace. The property was wonderful - set on a well-maintained dirt road - perfect for a scenic walk (or a run, in our case) - it has a "get away from it all" feel, yet Manchester is 30 minutes away, and Rutland 45 minutes or so in the other direction and 1 hour to Killington. We would definitely visit Glenn and Kay again in the future if we are in Vermont.
This is our second stay at Pond Mountain Inn. It already felt like we were going back to meet old friends. We rented the cottage for one week. It's really cozy, clean and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen.
The nice part is that you get all the privacy you need and cook your own meals but still get to enjoy Kay's fabulous breakfasts at the Inn! They are varied, delicious and truthfully irresistible! Ask Kay for her exquisite french bread and bacon, my personal favorite!
There's plenty to see and to do in the area: We went swimming at Lake St-Catherine, hiking in Merck Forest, we took the gondola ride to the top of Stratton Mountain, visited Dorset, shopped in Manchester... But our favorite activity was to sit back in Adirondack chairs, relax and read a good book outside by the cottage (it's so quiet you may fall asleep before you finish your first chapter..)
The highlights of our vacation were to gaze at the shooting stars and spend time with our hosts! They are warm, friendly and authentic people who have many stories to share. It's not just a business for them, they truly love what they do and it shows!
Did we like it? We just can't wait to get back this fall (our 3rd time at the Inn) and try the Loft for the first time! The view up there is magnificent and with a little luck we'll enjoy the colorful splendor of fall leaves before we can wonder at the night sky while sipping a glass of wine with our hosts!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the apartment at the house. It was very comfortable and well- kept with an equipped kitchen, spacious dining room/living room, and nice bedroom and bathroom area. We had everything needed.
The B&B is tucked in between the mountains with great views. The property is large and it was great for our dog.
Kay and Glen were wonderful hosts. They were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. They gave us recommendations for local shopping, dining, the farmers market.
The Wells General Store had yummy sandwiches, ice cream, and baked goods. The local farmer's market provided us with fresh veggies, meats, and cheeses. The Marble House in Dorsett had many interesting events including a cooking class which was fun. We also had a nice lunch in Vergennes. Burlington was two hours away and Ludlow, with the delicious Mojo's restaurant, was about one hour away.
We definitely recommend Pond Mountain Inn!
