Waterfront op de Megunticook rivier, Camden, Maine

My husband and I had a very relaxing stay. The cottage was comfy and the eclectic feel of the decor was welcoming and interesting.

My family from England had a wonderful time. The cottage was just the right size for the four of them and was perfectly equipped. The boys loved being on the water. Connie was wonderful and accommodating!

A simple, charming and well-equipped cottage in a fantastic location. The river, which really is more of a lake, was wonderful for swimming, kayaking, and relaxing on the dock. Villages of Camden, Rockport and Rockland, which are teeming with life are a stone’s throw from the cottage. In other words, you get the best of all worlds. My one suggestion would be to have light-blocking curtains in the bedroom, as the morning light wakes you up quite early. Sleeping mask would be another way to address the same issue.

We very much enjoyed our stay and recommend this rental highly.

River’s Edge is a wonderful place to unwind, swim, read, explore the Camden/Rockport area (or not...many days we chose to never leave the cottage and immediate surrounding area). The cottage itself is charming, comfortable and well-equipped, with a fantastic location in a quiet part of the river. The kitchen has everything we needed to enjoy cooking and we ate every meal, and had morning coffee each day, on the covered front deck. We slept so well, listening to the magical calls of the pair of loons that appeared each evening in the river in front of the cottage.

I’m a swimmer and River’s Edge afforded every opportunity i could want, from a refreshing dip in the morning to a long swim across the river in the afternoon and a quick swim each evening. Perfect. In between, my husband and I took long walks, read and played on the expansive front lawn with our pup (who swam even more than I did).

On our third day, a bald eagle dive to the edge of the river Immediately in front of the cottage, rising with a sizable fish in its talons. It was breathtaking !

The area right around the cottage is fun to explore walking (Beaucaire Rd can’t be beat). We hope to return next year and will definitely bring bikes and rent a kayak front Maine Sports.

Communication with Constance was easy and pleasant. She has done everything possible to ensure that guests at River’s Edge have a relaxing time enjoying this very special place. It’s quite perfect!

One final word from my husband, an avid Red Sox fan. He deeply appreciated being able to catch the night games on the great TV at the cottage. While we didn’t spend a lot of time doing that, having NESN available after a day of fishing, swimming, reading and walking, made his vacation complete:-)

At first, I thought the price was a bit high but when I saw the setting I immediately knew it was worth every penny. The Megunticook River has a dam at each end with a 24-hour very slow flow of fresh water. It was such a perfect temperature and we were never aware of any current. On the big Megunticook lake (which flows into this "river"), there are motor boats and a public beach that can get crowded. That water is a bit cooler too... On the river, only canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and of course, swimmers. And so few! We often had the entire water to ourselves. The dock was a lovely place to lounge. The cottage is not updated nor glamorous and has old furnishings but we had everything we needed and it was clean. Another amazing thing about this rental is that you are in a magical, serene place yet only a mere 1.5 miles to the Camden harbor! So close yet a world away. We took a 3-minute drive every day to get ice cream! The lake rentals are much farther out. I only found two vacay rentals on the Megunticook River and we are so happy it was available. It is the best place to stay in the Camden area. We would go back for sure!
