Best unit in the building! 5 STARS
We were a family of 6 and really enjoyed our stay at Marbella. The unit looks better in person than in the pictures, every attention to detail was perfectly taken care of. We loved that the unit is a corner unit, and the balcony is HUGE, great to spend the afternoons and watch the sunsets. The Marbella property grounds are very well maintained, the pool is beautiful and has all the amenities you could imagine! The location was also very convenient, there are a few "colmados" in walking distance that have everything you could need. The property manager Ernesto was very attentive and friendly, he even took us to a large grocery store to make a large purchase. The Owner Dan was also very friendly and communicative throughout the process. I would highly recommend this unit to any family planning a beach getaway to the DR! 5 STARS!
Spring break paradise
We had a fantastic time and stay for our family spring break trip with our family of 7. The condo was perfect and just as the pictures showed it to be. We had plenty of space for everyone and the views were gorgeous. The layout met our all our needs but the porch was our favorite part. The 4 bathrooms/showers was a huge plus with 4 teenage girls. I have to say we were a little nervous or skeptical of a trip to the Dominican because we have heard mixed reviews however we couldn’t of had a better trip. We walked to dinner 3 different nights, to the grocery store twice, and to the bank once and never felt unsafe. Actually the opposite in everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Granted you have to be smart of your surroundings but keep in mind this is a nice area and the street is lined with upscale condos and vacation places. Dan the owner was quick to respond to any and all questions. He was very helpful as I had a bunch of questions before and after booking. We did not rent a car and glad we didn’t. Dan arranged a taxi to pick us up and take us back to the airport. They were there waiting right on time with a sign etc. and early for our return flight. Ernesto meet us at the condo to give us a tour and get us comfortable. He took his time and answered all our question. Plus he went over and beyond to make us comfortable from getting our wristbands, showing us the outside area, directions to places and even took us to the grocery store to do one initial big grocery shop. You will be glad you do this and worth tipping him well for. He even walked around the store with us to assist finding things. He left his number for any issues however we never once needed it. There is a tour company right outside the complex that we used for horse back riding and the Jeep safari. Horse back riding was a hit with everyone and totally worth it. We also chartered a boat through wanna boats to Saona island and was an amazing day. Now this is not a all inclusive resort and is not in the busy tourist part of Punta Cana if that is what you are looking for. It is much more laid back and relaxing which we enjoyed. Boca Marina is worth the taxi ride and dinner. Very special setting and one the top local restaurants. We walked to cafe bistro, la con con (pizza), and sal marina which was all good. We would 100% stay here again and appreciate Dan, Ernesto and the other staff for making sure we had a great trip.
The condo layout and facilities were great. We loved the pools and the large oceanfront deck.
Your place is great and it worked really well for us. The patio is fantastic and the property and pool were wonderful. But we did have some significant maintenance issues.
Dishwasher didn’t function properly. It flooded several times and the main spring on the door is broken so it slams shuts which is quite dangerous. It also detached from the wall and fell out. Ernesto did try to repair it but you need a new dishwasher.
Coffee maker and freezer hadn’t been cleaned.
The property really needs a deep clean. The bathrooms were moldy and had sewer smells. The toilet in the master bedroom leaked and the shower clogged.
We thought the cleaning was inadequate. She did a superficial clean in the bathrooms. I had to asked her to clean under the sink. It was a mess. And I had to clean out the freezer.
Ernesto was a great local contact and help us out a lot.
Your welcome. One would think that with all the concerns expressed, I would have received one (1) call to notify me. But, I didn’t. Ernesto who she claims is a great local contact is the property manager and likewise, never received any complaint about cleanliness or any other matter with exception of dishwasher which was recently replaced, but apparently has a manufacturers defect. We will be replacing dishwasher ASAP. We would have provided a cleaning crew until Mrs. Glover was satisfied with the cleanliness. But apparently it’s easier to complain than to seek corrective measures.
We are a family of 4 and stayed here for a week in February. The condo and condo property were both fantastic. The condo is just like the photos, quite large and steps away from the water. The veranda is huge and we spent quite a bit of time there looking out on the beautiful water. When we were there, there was always a very nice breeze coming from the left side of the veranda which kept us cool. Not sure you would get that same breeze from other condos which are not open on the left side. We loved sitting in the shade of the palm trees and going into the water. You really do need to bring water shoes as there are rocks in the water---heed my advice on this point and you will be happy you did. The condo manager Ernesto was fantastic!!!! He was always willing to help us out if we needed anything and volunteered to take us to the local large grocery story "Jumbo". Take my advice, ask him to drive you there and tip him well. Driving on the island is an experience and we were happy that we did not rent a car. There a couple of food stores that are a long walk away or a short drive away. I will say that the area outside the condo property was a bit sketchy to us but by the end of the trip we felt much better walking around, going to diner and going out for groceries. I think that this area is safe and that as Americans, we assume it is sketchy in comparison to what we are used to. But I think we just needed to adjust our expectations and understand that these condos are where the rich Dominicans come to vacation and go out for dinner. Others told us that they routinely walk around outside the property till 10:00 p.m. and that there is never any problem. El Meson was a fantastic restaurant. Try the broiled seafood dish for 2 and you wont be disappointed. It was amazing!!!! We flew into Punta Cana airport as that was the only nonstop flight we could get. If you do the same, the condo is about 1.5 hours from the airport and I suggest taking Dominican Airport Transfers which was on time and great. A great tour that we did on the trip was a catamaran ride with Quetzal Excursions. This was an all day event and was perfect in every way. You wont see many fish snorkeling but it was a great adventure. I highly suggest this tour. The boat is over an hour away and the Company will organize transportation to and from the boat for you. The captain was very accommodating.
Lots of space to share with family and friends. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Ernesto met us at the front desk when we arrived and gave us a tour of the unit. He left his number if we had problems but there were no issues. Juan Dolio is a nice QUIET beach getaway. It’s NOT Punta Cana if that’s what you’re trying to avoid. Americans, Canadians, Europeans, and locals vacation here. The beach is very quiet unless it’s a local holiday, then the locals who own units come.
AWESOME Vacation Location - great VALUE. Only 5 stars because I couldn't give it MORE!
AWESOME - pictures & video do not do justice. 2nd floor "penthouse" (top floor equivalent!) ocean front unit with incredible views & oversized balcony - full sized shaded outdoor dining table & sun-soaked lounge chairs for 6+ while waves lap up on shore below. Incredible sunsets! My wife, I, our two kids (age 18/20) spent Christmas week here. 30 minutes from SDQ (Santo Domingo International Airport) through typical (poor) Caribbean towns. 3 good quality roads (Highway 3, Juan Dolio Blvd, Carr Nueva) to get there - drive-able, but not recommended! Take time to acclimate to local driving conditions (mopeds/ no rules!). I booked round trip from SDQ via Transfers.do for $90 plus 2 x $10 tips). Second floor is great - other than moving in/out with luggage, we always took stairs. Code enabled door access - never worry about keys! On arrival, Ernesto (Dan's local resource) is waiting to greet you, show you around, and assure you get settled. It's like having your uncle nearby to help you with ANYTHING! Bedrooms/ kitchen/ living space/ family room - with 65" big screen and theater sound - watched all 3 Toronto Maple Leafs games (WiFi) and family movie night Christmas Eve and Day (Netfix) all as shown in the pics/ video - only better live. Condo is in Tower 5 of 5 resort-cleanly site surrounding 2 large infinity pools and an on-site ocean front dining restaurant (good). We ate breakfast in-condo everyday after a shopping trip to Jumbo (Dominican Walmart) - Ernesto set us up with rental car through a friend in San Pedro (1/2 price of airport/ Juan Dolio car rental). Use WAZE App and choose "most use of freeways" vs the "shortest route" while a great cultural "experience", not something to be done at night! Relax at the pool/ beach - vendors prohibited from property lines (security enforces!) so you only interact with them if you want to. Ocean swimming awesome/ warm water (a little rocky first 10') - reef 100 yards out knocks down the waves. I golfed Guavaberry ($90 + $20caddie tip) - beautiful course/ good value & Metro/ Los Marlins ($60 + $20 caddie tip) - skip it/ poor condition. My son & I did 4 hr deep sea fishing at Bayahibe (50 min drive) he caught 12lb barracuda - worth the $105ea! Great local (walkable) restaurants also great value (El Meson, El ConCon, Paladart). Boca Marine restaurant in Boca Chia is a MUST over-water dining. Tip add'l 10% CASH - be patient, service is slow but you're on vacation - relax! We will be back - best vacation ever!!
