Creepy, Dark, and Cold. Didn't even stay!! Left within 2 hours. (still got charged)
Positives:
- Great scenic location.
- Funky restored house.
Negatives:
- To start the door handle to the front door was broken off. The only way to keep the door shut was to use the deadbolt.
- the property manager listed in the information book doesn't work there anymore and apologized the owner hadn't removed her information from the book.
- we arrived 15 minutes after check in time and were asked to wait outside for another 30 minutes while cleaning was finalized
- For 2 hours we tried to figure out how to increase the heat, both my wife and I kept BOTH our jackets and coats on the entire time. We messaged the owner who wanted us to increase the heat pump from the second story room (bedroom) to heat rooms far away and much lower, which would make the bedroom way too hot to sleep in and still not make the living and kitchen warm enough.
- The bed isn't a normal mattress. It is some sort of memory foam. It is up a steep staircase and the light that wasn't working. And the bed was very high off the ground. I didn't measure but it was definitely over 3 feet high.
- the feature we were interested in - the outdoor baths - requires multiple steps to use (open closet, move things out of the way, then turn on hot and cold lines, and after using the bath, even in the cold, you have to turn off and drain the filling lines and then drain the draining lines! That's a lot more work than just turning on the taps and pulling the drain plug as one would have assumed when wet and in the cold. Not to mention one of the shower heads was broken off completely.
- The lighting in the living area is very poor and dark.
- The most well lit room during the day is not utilized well in my opinion, but even after sunset, it is poorly lit and dark.
- Occultic Paraphernalia takes up almost half the living room. This wasn't mentioned at all. This would have been a deal breaker from the start. Tarot cards, animal skull, healing beads and stones and balms and things. There was no way to close it off or cover it. It is just there in the living area which was discomforting. This should not be out on display if on the property at all, without explicitly being stated. Wouldn't have booked otherwise.
All this added up to us leaving the property within 2 hours of attempting to make it work, knowing we would still be charged. The owner wasn't very kind when we made this known. I'm sure she'll respond as with other negative feedback.
