Het is op de 4e verdieping van een nieuw gebouw aan de rue des Taillandiers, een rustige straat op 5 minuten lopen van het Place de la Bastille. Het appartement is volledig ingericht en uitgerust met een queen size bed, een slaapbank, een stoel die wordt ingeklapt in een eenpersoonsbed, TV, DVD-speler (waardoor het gebruik van zowel de Europese als de Amerikaanse formaat dvd's), onbeperkt high speed internet verbinding, wifi, gratis bellen naar vaste lijnen in Frankrijk en de meeste internationale locaties (Verenigde Staten inbegrepen), volledig uitgeruste keuken (met koelkast, vaatwasser, oven / magnetron), wasmachine, droger, eettafel en 4 stoelen en een bureau. Ook voorzien: beddengoed, kussens, handdoeken, keukengerei, kookgerei, haardroger, strijkijzer, broodrooster, en een koffiezetapparaat. De slaapkamer is gescheiden van de woonkamer / keuken door een schuifdeur. Het gebouw heeft een beveiligingscode, intercom en een lift.
For two months in fall 2014 this apartment--my 8th Paris rental--was home.
THE APARTMENT: This modern, well-designed, uncluttered, bright, spacious unit looks just like the photos. The well-stocked kitchen boasts plentiful counter space, induction cooktop, compact clothes washer, & the bonus of a large fridge, great for someone like me who cooks in a lot. There's a large separate clothes dryer near the entry. Comfy sofa. The very comfortable bed is outfitted with quality linens & good pillows. A large closet holds a generous number of hangers & includes hanging space, shelves, & drawers. A mirrored medicine cabinet provides space for toiletries, & the large shower has a rain head + hand-held sprayer. Quickly efficient radiant wall heaters, portable fans--indispensable as I arrived during a heatwave--make air conditioning unnecessary, & OUTSTANDING LIGHTING throughout. Some interesting info brochures: i.e., cheeses, wines--and books--i.e., "A to Z of French Food," I bought one to take home @ W.H. Smith. This newer building with a dependable elevator & quiet neighbors is located on a calm street, (apartment faces courtyard) & uses two security doors.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD: In the past I have stayed in the 3rd, 4th, 11th, 12th, & 18th. In total I've spent about a year in Paris, a good deal of that time walking. Everywhere. I found the location of this apartment ideal. It's an easy walk to Place des Vosges & into Le Marais. I also recommend strolling around the 11th to discover passageways, squares, up to Place de République, & wherever else your feet end up diverting you. Square de La Roquette is small & pleasant, & not too far from that is huge Père Lachaise cemetery, worth a visit. Several metro stations (@ Bastille with line 1, a main route) are close. Shops (wander rue Keller and rue Charonne) larger stores (i.e., Monoprix), boulangeries + eateries of all kinds are abundant, and the nearby big, lively marché on Richard-Lenoir (Sun. & Thurs.) offers all manner of produce & food items, & more. A few recommendations: the Artisan Boulangerie (corner of Roquette & Popincourt), and the pharmacie next door; eateries WOK (a few doors from the apartment), and Le Pain Quotidian (on Charonne).
THE OWNER: The owner or manager can enhance or ruin a stay. This owner is a GEM. Friendly, helpful, responsive, unobtrusive (she & her family live upstairs, another bonus if there's a problem), & she has created a welcoming rental. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Our nervous anticipation disappeared and we knew we made the right choice as soon as we arrived and were greeted by Rachel. The apartment was as nicer than the pictures reflect. Clean with an open layout that lets you and move around without stepping on each other’s toes. Spacious closet and storage space, modern appliances and bath facilities, bright lighting, warm (we were there in February) and great security for main lobby and apartment entrance.
The location was perfect for our exploring both Paris and other cities in France. There is close access to the metro, train stations and buses. Located on small quiet rue with some nice restaurants and around the corner from the very active rue de la Roquette with many more restaurants, bakeries, groceries and a wide variety of other shops.
The way the shower, sink and toilet facilities were laid out allowed each to be accessed separately so all could be used at the same time. The open layout of the kitchen also allowed you to work together without getting in each other’s way. The furniture and mattress were very comfortable.
Other bonuses we enjoyed were the full size and separate washer and dryer, the large modern elevator, dishwasher, induction cooktop and large refrigerator. And what made this all even better was our host Rachel who was friendly, available and open to any questions.
We will definitely recommend this apartment to others and will return if we return to Paris. Thank to you Rachel for help making our visit very pleasant.

This apartment is even nicer than the photos suggest. We had a very good stay here for the month of November, even though the weather was grey for most of the time, since the apartment is warm and well lit, the bed and sofa were comfortable and the shower brilliant, with plenty of hot water. The apartment was well equipped, including a dryer and plenty of storage space. There was no street noise since the main window was towards the rear. Rachel was very helpful in lending her children's baby equipment for our visiting grandchildren and was always ready with useful suggestions - and booked us a taxi for our journey home.
The building has an efficient elevator and the apartment is one of only two on the 4th floor. There were 4 bakeries within 5 minutes walk and a similar number of local supermarkets, a nice cafe on the corner and many interesting shops and cafes on the local streets. Travel links were excellent with a bus stop within a couple of minutes and 2 metro stops within a few minutes away, one of which, Bastille has very good links with metro lines and bus routes. There are large local markets on Boulevard Richard Lenoir and the Marais is around 10 minutes walk away.

What a lovely, pristine and very comfortable apartment located in a most convenient location close to 2 metros, supermarkets, bakeries and lots of restaurants.
The apartment was well equipped which allowed us to bring dinner home after a wonderful visit to the Sunday Bastille Market (also on Thursday)....not to be missed.
Rachel, the owner is a delight. She was most accommodating and offered lots of information about Paris. Our phone calls to her were returned immediately.
This was not our first, nor will it be our last visit to Paris and this is the apartment we will return to.
We've travelled to Paris often and rented various apartments in different arrondisements. As friends were living in la Bastille, we decided to investigate
the 11th this trip for our two-week visit.
The apartment is exactly as shown: lovely, clean and never gave the feeling of being too small for the 2 of us. Excellent shower and good mattress - not always found in Parisian rentals. The owner, who is American, has really thought of everything to make it a good "home away from home". We walk a lot and le Marais (with shops open on Sundays), Notre Dame and other wonderful areas of interest are only 10-15 minutes away. There are several metros in the area. The 11th is now full of really good restaurants: a few we'd suggest are "Chez Paul", "Paul Bert" and "Rino". We found "Le Fooding" magazine (available at newsagents and book stores) really helpful as well as "Pudlow" for the latest on Parisian restaurants.
Had dinner at the restaurant opposite the apartment, "Les Gallopins" and it was fine for our first night when too tired to go further afield, but we never returned. If you order the roast lamb for 2, be warned it's an entire shoulder!
As the owner of the apartment, who lives upstairs, was away during our visit, we were welcomed by a property manager who was available for any questions during our stay and very helpful. She also booked our taxi to the airport on our last day.
We would certainly stay there again and recommend it to others. Great find.

The apartment was very clean, bright, well furnished, comfortable and tabulated the location was perfect! The metro station "Bastille" was only 4 minutes away. Supermarket and bakery within walking distance (2 min). Rachel was very nice and we could call her any time. Apartment highly recommended and if we travel again to Paris, we know that this apartment is our accommodation !

De Bastille gebied staat bekend om zijn trendy bars, restaurants en winkels. De Opéra National de Paris - Bastille, is een modern operahuis ingehuldigd voor de 200ste verjaardag van de Franse Revolutie. Elke donderdag en zondag ochtend vanaf de Place de la Bastille en zich uitstrekt tot Blvd Richard Lenoir is er een typisch Parijse openlucht voedselmarkt die niet gemist mag worden. Het appartement is een kleine 10 minuten lopen van het bekende Place des Vosges en de historische wijk Marais (4e arrondissement). Het appartement is goed verbonden met de metro naar de meeste van de belangrijkste toeristische bezienswaardigheden en treinstations gezien de nabijheid van de Bastille en Voltaire metrostations. Vijf minuten lopen van metrolijnen 1, 5, 8 en 9.
