Let me start with what is right. And there is a LOT right. This property was spotless...I mean you could eat off the floor spotless. There is nothing that makes or breaks a rental for me more than this. The home is beautiful with minimalist decorating (something else I prefer). GORGEOUS breakfast view from either porch and lovely fire pit. Grill was stocked with propane. Plenty of clean towels and linens. Plus they allowed us to park our fifth wheel on the property, even assisted us in backing it in, which kept us (full timers) from having to pay a campground just to leave it sit vacant. Caretakers were responsive, even on Thanksgiving day when we texted with a question. The maintenance building is extremely close to the home. No bother to us as very few people were there during the Thanksgiving holiday, but I could see where this would feel invasive during a regular work week. Would suggest some strategically placed planks/boardwalk to the fire pit and around the yard to help with marshy walking. Now all else I’ll say, in all fairness, was fully disclosed, but feel compelled to mention a few things. We were six adults and a dog, and after fees and taxes we paid nearly double the "average price per day" amount shown on VRBO. Even though we knew this, signed all the paperwork, etc., it felt exorbitant after it sank in. Also -prefacing by saying they waived hours on our request, on the check-in day - the check in time of 5PM and check out of 10AM is too restrictive. The property is in a very unlighted, backroads area, and having guests trying to find it after dark in the winter is a bit hazardous. Again all these things were clearly disclosed, and are more shame on us, than shame on them, but I felt they are important to point out to future guests. I hope the owners of this lovely property aren’t offended by my honesty here. Would we stay again? Definitely...but going in with eyes open.
