Last year we stayed in a houseboat on this canal and loved the neighborhood (it became our own) so decided to look at apartments and glad we did. This unit was up short flight of stairs but gave you a great view of both street, canal and church tower out of front windows (which open 2 ways). Belinda met us at unit after driver (also arranged by our realtor) graciously called to advise her of our arrival. She explained everything important about apartment but also told us any questions or concerns after she left will be handled immediately (and they were). Kitchen was fully equipped (no oven-but that was ok) and refrigerator had wine and beer and some crackers for us which was very thoughtful. Bed was a double but didn't feel cramped at all and very, very comfortable. Loved having the private patio out back for a little peace, quiet and great sun. Street is a little noisy at night but that's because it's a happening neighborhood and really beautiful. The apartment was great but also helped having Paul and his team available for any of our needs. On kitchen table is a handout with restaurants, activities in the neighborhood and just great Amsterdam info. Mike's Bikes for bike rentals (great staff-super friendly). Last year did countryside tour with them and this time did it on our own. Also, organic market on Saturdays down the block at Noordmarket (get the oysters and hopefully he'll also have Prosecco to wash them down. 2 great supermarkets on Westerstraat but one does not take credit cards (make sure you have debit card and let bank know ahead of time). Jun for Indonesian (just west of apartment) delicious, not touristy and wonderful staff. Hungry birds (Thirsty bird Tour) and hopefully you'll get Rachel. Went to the movies one night on Westerstraat (cool old Art Deco theater) and ate Tapas after. Can you tell I love Amsterdam? Wonderful apartment, wonderful staff and wonderful city. Can't wait to return. Proust!
This bautiful renovated and new decorated apartment is located at one of the most desired locations in the historic old center of Amsterdam and adjacent to the world renowned “grachtengordel”(= 'Ring of Canals') – where the oldest canal mansions of Amsterdam are located.
Having breakfast at your dining table with fantastic view on the Prinsen Canal and Wester Church. Looking at the most beautiful 17th and 18th century canal houses and warehouses.
This is also a preferred neighborhood for the locals who live in the luxury converted loft apartments in the old warehouses. Its people friendly, gay friendly (Canal Parade), blow friendly and dog friendly neighborhood. All combined it creates a pleasant environment to stay and with a great atmosphere
