Appartement in Lissabon (stad): Lisbon - Saldanha/Alameda

We stayed as a family with two little daughters (4 and 6) in the appartment for nine days. We all had a very pleasent time. Problems were quickly solved by Pedro, the owner. We used the wireless internet a lot.
The appartment is located in a big quare block of only residentual houses. 800 metres from the appartment is the bulls arena where a new shopping centre is build with a great supermarket.
The tree in front of the house came down when we stayed there. So the little park misses one tree now.

We stayed in this apartment for 10 days in may. The apartment really is wonderful and we had an unforgettable stay there! It is spacious and clean with everything you might need for a comfortable stay, for example the kitchen is very well equipped. And I just loved the wooden floor and the high ceiling:)

The locatioin is very good, we liked that we had "real life" around us, not only tourists and hotels. Cafes and restaurants are just around the corner, we specially recommend the Versailles cafe. But the best thing is the metro line, it is very easy to use and the station is about 10min walk from the apartment. though the trip might get a bit longer with all the shops and cafes...:) the metro takes you straight to the centre but is also convenient for example if you want to visit the Expo-98 area (recommended!). It is also a nice walk to the Gulbenkian museum and actually not very far from the main street Avenida da Liberdade.

And last but not least I have to say a few words about the owner, Pedro. He was very reliable, helpful and easy to get along. He helped us to "get started" and made sure that we were okay:) Everything went smoothly and we felt ourselves very welcomw.

By the way, remember the ear-pluggs, cause the kids uppstairs like to run very early in the morning! :D

We stayed here for six weeks in March/April. The flat was great, lots of room, well equipped and comfortable. The heaters came in very useful in the unusually cold and damp March weather! Pedro, the owner, is tremendously helpful and welcoming, and speaks excellent English.The flat is in a very interesting area of older housing units which have been modernized and refurbished, an unusual and charming neighbourhood which is centrally located in the city. It is not in the obvious tourist area of Lisbon, which is an advantage given the noise and bustle of the latter (it is also in a flat area, which is the opposite of mostly very hilly, tourist Lisbon). But the location itself is wonderful: hundreds of shops and all kinds of restaurants extremely close by, and a huge choice of public transport, both buses and metro. A car would be a liability, and completely unnecessary. Lisbon has an excellent (and cheap) public transport system, and this flat is ideally placed to get to everywhere. It is also an extremely pleasant area for just strolling. The "avenidas novas" area is full of interesting places to see, including not far away the marvellous Gulbenkian Foundation with its first rate art galleries, magnificent concert hall and superb gardens. Do not miss the cafe there with its outside varanda right in the gardens. We tried many excellent restaurants in the area (all by just walking a few hundred yards) which were notable for not being tourist traps and for being frequented by lisboetas. Our favourite was O Feijao, up the Avenida Roma behind the Hotel Lutecia. All these restaurants had first rate fish at very reasonable prices. We had a great stay and had absolutely no regrets about choosing this flat.
